Hello,

I am also getting married at the moon palace but on February 8th 2014.  I was told in my confirmation of the date notice they would be in touch 90 days from the wedding to finalize all details.  Hope this helps and if you find this any different please let me know.

Congrats!  I am getting married there January 17th, 2014!  I have been going back and forth with my travel agent and wedding coordinators and have done my research!  If you have any questions regarding ceremony locations, private events, etc. let me know.   The resort has emailed a lot of useful information!!

Hey Ladies,

Were getting married in September 2013 and have been reading through a lot of posts. I'm from the UK and have read A LOT of american & canadian brides are actually legally getting married before they arrive in Mexico. I am now considering doing this as the costs and process for getting our birth certificates legalised and translated are quite a lot - its only a total of £125 to do it all in the UK before we go...we'd maybe do it a few days before we go. We don't wanna tell guests really either. Whats you're thoughts? Also, in the symbolic wedding, are there any admin costs??

Also, we wont need to do the blood tests either.

One more question - can you therefore make up your own vows?

Cheers,

Charlene x x

Hi Ladies!

I am getting married August 3, 2013. Will any of you also be getting married around then?

I am generally on the forums to get advice about decorations and choosing venues for events. The site has so many amazing women with great DIY ideas and inspiration.

Has anyone heard anything about the live saxophone song options? I can't seem to get any information but want to narrow down our ceremony song choices with FI. Any advice is appreciated! Thank you!

Hi Ladies!!  I am getting married at Moon Palace January 17th, 2014.  I am already overwhelmed!  Very overwhelmed with the reviews that I have read from 2012.  Brides getting married within the next few months, have you been able to lock your ceremony and reception location?  The location is what is stressing me out.  I do not want to wait until I get there to secure my location or have it changed on me at the last minute.  Anyone having their reception at the Caribbean Terrace?  I really want my reception there, but it isn't private so I don't know if that means we have to share the bar with other guests outside the wedding?  Anyone have information on this location?

Here is a link to the private event locations. Hope this is helpful to anyone curious about the various locations!

Hi There,

Getting married there in a couple weeks. They told me that I would be contacted 90 days before but I pestered them and got everything done ahead of time. I had my locations locked down in September (getting married in April). I had to wait until I locked it down before I started making decor decisions.

Any place that you have a private function should have your own bartender for the duration of the event. It appears to me that none of the reception locations are all that private as they are all sort of off pathways that guests will be walking. I was initially considering the Moon Grand Side (Grand Terrace) as it appears more secluded but it looked so big and open and I thought decorating it to look quaint would be a real task. In the end i chose Lake Terrace for the reception and cocktail hour and Bugambilia Gazebo for the ceremony.

Try not to be overwhelmed. Planning a destination wedding is not as easy as everyone thinks. It is a lot of work but if you stay organized you will be good to go. I used google docs to keep track of every document I received and it is proving to be a god sent, you can even get the documents offline in case you are at the resort and don't have wifi when you need it.

Happy Planning. If you have any questions please let me know.

Just to give everyone an idea here is what I paid for additional decor from DecoCanun:

  • Structure to outline the dance floor $450 (see picture below)
  • Lounge Area (wicker couch, 2 small chairs and a table) $150
  • Wicker seating for 4 with small table $120
  • Tiki Torches to line the entrance $8 each
  • Tall Tables (for around the bar area) $55 each
  • Centerpieces (Large glass bowl with sand and shells with a large banana leaf under them) $42 each
  • Bouquet and Boutinere $295  (I did not want roses and the resort wanted $300 for just the bouquet to be upgraded so I am using my complimentary bouquet for pedals for the flower girl's basket and corsages for the mothers)
  • Fuschia napkins $3 each

TOTAL was `$1900

This was a lot cheaper than one of the collections that the resort offered. I went a little bit crazy with the decor but you get the idea of how much things are.
