I am sure many of you have touched on this but are we allowed to bring our decorations for the tables?

I have a wedding decorator that will do it all for me so I don't have to pay a million dollars for reception decor.

Also, I bought a bunch of fake flowers for my bridemaids to use instead of buying real flowers as bouquets. If this permitted and what have people's experience been in bringing their own bouquet and table decor?

Thanks : )

You can bring whatever you would like with you, just remember you have to bring it with you on the plane. I read somewhere that to get things through customs you should keep all your receipts with the items in your bags and remember what you can and cannot bring into the country.

Congrats Aynat! and welcome to the forum :) don't let customs deter you. If you want to bring your own decorations, do.

When you arrive in the Cancun airport, you push a button to randomly select which people are searched by customs.......so it's the "luck of the draw" whether when you push that button the light goes green or red.

Even if they do search you, as long as you're not bringing in anything on the forbidden list, you should be fine.

I wish you all the best with your plans, and have a beautifully decorated and perfect wedding of your dreams - Cheers! cheers.gif

Thanks Lyman! Do you by any chance know where I can find a list of things that you cannot bring? I'm planning to bring crystal candle holders, chair bows, sheer table overlays, photo frames, etc....

Thank you for your time :)

All of the items you listed should be fine. The no go items are like real flowers animals, food and like explosives...lol. If you search in the search bar "customs in Mexico" there are some helpful threads. You can also just google and pull up the Mexican government website that has a list of prohibited items. I do know that they ask you to declare things, so if you have a certain amount of $ worth of stuff they ask you to pay duties or something like that I think a lot of brides being receipts with them even. It's something I myself need to do more research into before leaving on my trip.

You're very welcome Aynat :) and yes, tulumbride2013 is right about the prohibited items at customs. Also, in my experience, if you're bringing in the decor items for you personal use - ie your wedding - that's fine.

You may have to tell them that they're for your wedding decorations, and you're not planning of selling them in Mexico......that was the concern when I was questioned by customs about bringing in larger quantities of an item.

When they were satisfied that it was all for my personal use - ie gifts for my guests, they let it go okay.

They just didn't want me bringing in a bunch of things to sell in Mexico.....  lol :)

I hope all your plans work out great and you have the amazing wedding you're dreaming of........enjoy!
