HELP!!!! So lost with Wedding Planning and Questions about Jamaica

Hi everyone,

 

I am new to the site but will be a 2013 bride! Yay!!! Planning has been so overwhelming and I have no idea what I'm doing. My fiance and I decided on a destination wedding after prices to have it near our home were through the roof! Anyway, we are looking for something cost effective, yet beautiful.

 

We were in limbo between Jamaica and Punta Cana but I have chosen Jamaica. Now its just a matter of date (looking at some time in April) and location. What are the best months, cost wise, to have a destination wedding and travel? We have been checking Iberostar Grand, and Rose Hall Suites, Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton, and Secrets Wild Orchid. But I see from a few on this site, that Gran Bahia is worth considering.

 

I hope that someone can help me make some head way with this wedding planning. Also, I wanted to find out about wedding packages that are offered. The only ones that I know for sure are the ones from Grand Palladium and Secrets. All suggestions and comments welcomed!

Congrats on deciding on a destination wedding. We too decided to have a destination wedding because of prices here. We choose the Riu Ocho Rios in Jamaica to have our December 2012 wedding. My first choice was Secrets and then Sandals but both were adults only and I have a sister who is 8. Secrets does amazing weddings and Sandals does the Martha Stewart weddings. Both are beautiful. After a lot of research on here and comparing prices between the ROR, Grand Bahia, and Iberostar I decided on ROR.

If you're set on April, then you should consider having your wedding after mid-April -- which is the start of the off-season so hotel prices will be lower. High/peak travel season is December through about mid-April.
