Intimate Mexico Beach Wedding

Recommended Posts

So after pretty much planning every detail of our big, extravagant $35,000 (fall 2012) NYC wedding, the stress with guest list, finances, MONSTER-in-law, etc. was putting a strain on my FI & I's soon to be marriage. So much so, that we've decided to cancel everything and plan to "elope" in MEXICO in an intimate ceremony this summer (by OURSELVES). Thank God we were able to get our deposits back for almost everything.
I've done a little research and found a few nice-looking resorts in Mexico to have our wedding:

  1. Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe
  2. Dreams Riviera Cancun Resorts & Spa
  3. Excellence Playa Mujeres (top choice)
  4. Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort
  5. Now Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa
  6. Valentin Imperial Maya

Questions:
Has anyone been to any of these resorts?
Does anyone of any other AMAZING resort in Mexico for our wedding/honeymoon?
How good are the resort wedding coordinators?

Wishlist for Wedding/Resort:
  • bamboo canopy w/ drapes
  • intimate beach ceremony location
  • intimate evening wedding dinner (for two)
  • recently renovated/fairly new
  • fantastic honeymoon suite
  • nice size pool & a pool bar
  • for young adults (not too much kids or retirees)
  • entertainment/nightlife

I know, a lot of question... Sorry. I'm just freaking out about planning my wedding thousands of miles away and pretty much giving up all control to the resort's wedding coordinators. sad.gif

I have vacationed at Excellence Playa Mujeres twice & we are going back for our third visit for our weddinghoneymoon in May.

The resort is absolutely beautiful with all modern rooms & decor. We have been on several other vacations & resorts including Sandals & in my opinion Excellence blows them away. But with that being said I am sure all the resorts you have selected are all amazing!

If you have any questions let me know.

Good luck & happy planning!

Try doing a search for the other resorts your interested in.

Here is the link to the EPM resort page with TONS of info.

Hi Ladies,

Thank you for replying to my post and proving such helpful information.

Lol @ Abbie

My fiance and I have chosen to get married at the Dreams Riviera Resort & Spa in August 2013. We are inviting approx. 30 of our close family and friends.

@ Sharon99 I would love to see some photos of how your wedding turned out. :-)

Thanks again for all of your help!
