Need Advice on Wedding Location Near Liberia Airport

I'm recently engaged and have set my sights on getting married in Costa Rica. After a ton of research I have "narrowed" my choices down and need input -- good or bad -- on any of the various locations.

My goal is to find a place within an hour (or pretty close) of Liberia airport, that isn't too expensive for my guests (Under $200 a night), moderate priced wedding packages, nice pool area to hang out in (swim-up bar a plus!) and somewhere that my friends and family will be glad they flew all the way to visit.

Initially, I was hoping to find a place that would be a one-stop shop, where they would coordinate all the details (food, drink, flowers, photographer, etc.) but if I can save some cash by finding vendors myself, I'm okay with that.

Anyway, here's the list, comment away:

*Tamarindo Diria *Hotel El Jardin del Eden *Bahia Del Sol *Hotel Capitan Suizo *Hotel Bula Bula *Sugar Beach *Condovac * Blue River Resort & Hot Springs *Playa Hermosa Bosque del Mar Hotel *Villa del Sueno

Thanks in advance!

My fiancée and I just came back from a hotel scouting trip in Costa Rica and we stayed a Bahia Del Sol and Sugar Beach and thought they were both lovely.   Sugar Beach is about 10-15 minute drive north of Bahia Del Sol.   Both are right on the beach, the restaurants had great food and the staff was wonderful.

Bahia Del Sol

About 1 hr from Liberia

In general rooms are more expensive than Sugar Beach (we are going to recommend guests on a budget stay down the road at Flamingo Beach Resort which is 5 minutes away)

No site fees, and they have tables, chairs and white linens so you donâ€t have to rent those

Pool has swim up bar.  The pool itself is small but there is a much larger lounge area than Sugar Beach

Itâ€s on the edge of a small town so there are one or two other bars and restaurants to go to

They have a small lawn you can get married on as well as the beach

You arenâ€t supposed to flush your toilet paper, youâ€ve got to throw it in the trash.

Sugar Beach

About 1hr 15 min from Liberia

Remote – there arenâ€t any other restaurants or shops within walking distance

Small pool, no swim up bar, only about 6 lounge chairs fit by the pool

You have to reserve the entire hotel if you want to bring in a DJ or live music.  I believe thatâ€s around 50-80 people but check with them to verify

The room we stayed in was very nice, with a porch and an ocean view

Since it is so remote and not much to do but enjoy the beach they have free boogie boards, snorkel masks, games and movies to check out at the front desk.

After we found out you had to book the entire place to bring in music, Sugar Beach was out of the running.  However we would have chosen Bahia Del Sol anyway because it is closer to other things and Flamingo Beach is 5 minutes away for guests on a tighter budget.  We also found their catering menu to be reasonably priced.  If your group is large enough to fill the hotel and if you donâ€t mind being a little more remote I think Sugar Beach would be wonderful location.

Happy Planning!
