When to send Save The Dates and Invites

Our wedding is not until July 2013, however I need opinions on when I should send out the STD's, and then the Invites.

any advise will be greatly appreciated

STDs should be sent out about 8 months before the wedding. Some brides have been sending them a year or more out. This way you give your guests an opportunity to save up finances as well as plan ahead in terms of vacation time. It is up to you- but I would at least give a heads up to the people closest to you. The more notice you give people, the better!

Formal invitations should be sent out about 3 months prior to the wedding.

We are thinking of just sending out Proper invites and get it made by professional. We had a chat with some closer friends to get their interest This way it save you abit of money of having to do both and I think the one who will be going will keep on asking you for more information and hence, saving the date card is not really needed,
