Hey How was your wedding. I'm getting married the 13th of Aug. 2013? Getting nervous I would say lol.... So how was the venue? the wedding? the staff? the food?How was the cake?..We booked a beach wedding and I'm really not sure if we are going to go with a private dinner or just a private reception. I really want to have a first dance.... I was wondering did you get the photographer from the resort?

 

There is just so much to think about and I really want to stay within my budget?

We booked DJ mannia.  Expensive, but I've heard he throws a party like no other.  I think we are going to get sparklers too ($15 for 20 or something like that).  He will MC the party.  We're not going to do any games as time will be limited.  I'm guessing we won't be done dinner until 8 or 8:30, which will only leave 2.5 hours for the party.  We are not really asking anyone to officially do a speech, just my fiancee and I will do one together during dinner.  They take up SOOOO much time.  We will do a first dance and father/daughter and mother/son dance at the very beginning, followed by cake cutting at the party.  Then people who aren't big on dancing can sit down and have dessert.  I dunno ... I haven't really thought this far!  haha

 

What about you???  Any ideas?

Hello ladies, I have made reservations at Majestic Elegance, but I wanted to know if any bride has given their guests the option of staying at Majestic Colonial. Thanks!

Hi there. I just returned from Punta Cana. We stayed one week at the Colonial, and then one week at the Elegance. When we checked in for our second week at the Elegance, they allowed us to keep our wristbands for the Colonial so that we could use both sides. Your guests who choose to stay at the Colonial side will not be able to come to the Elegance side tho . All of us that stayed at both resorts much preferred the food and atmosphere of the Colonial, and most days would return to the colonial for lunch as their buffets are much better. The rooms are a little nicer at the Elegance, but if I had my time back we would have stayed both weeks at the colonial. Hope that helps

I'm getting married Dec 4th 2013 at Majestic colonial, I'm having a beach reception at 3pm and we are still deciding on where we want our private reception . I provided a list of all the room prices for my guests traveling from Montreal and Toronto Canada and also the prices to upgrade to the colonial club 18+ section and everyone who has already booked has booked in 18+ cuz rooms and amenities look so much nicer ! I upgraded our room because I read its not guaranteed the bride and groom will get upgraded on arrival so I didn't want to be disappointed. Is anyone planning any excursions or activities for their guests? My FI read somewhere there in paintball and now he wants to do that :S

Hi Vanessa, We did several excursions while we were there... - Razr side by side - there are two different trips, one along the beach and one that goes to an underground cave that you caN swim in - Saona island (highly recommend!) - shopping trip to San Juan shopping centre for the ladies - reef explorer (loved this!) - and we also rented a private van to drive us to santo Domingo for the day. Amazing experience! Have fun!

We travelled with Air Transat and they were free, as well as a separate bag of "sports equipment" that we brought all our snorkelling gear in. Just check out your travel company online and they will have what you can bring

congrats punta bride! hey ladies, i got this resort info from another brides. i have no idea if this information is updated or not. can anybody confirm?  *MammaJuana  - The drink they are known for in Punta Cana. There is something different in it every time, but a shot on its own or in a coke makes for a very fun night, or afternoon, or morning… whatever kind of crazy you feel like getting. *The ‘Majesic’ – The resort’s signature drink. It is creamsicle flavor, and tastes more like a dreamsicle *Beer = Presidente *If you leave a couple of bucks with a list of what you want re-stocked in your room everyday, it goes a long way (i.e., 6 water, 6 beer). *If you don’t drink the beers/water from your fridge before the next re-stocking, hide them in your bedside table so you have an abundance of beer/water when you really want it! They won’t give you more drinks than can fit in the fridge, so empty it as much as you want it refilled. *don’t brush your teeth with the tap water, and keep your mouth closed in the shower – don’t be a hero. *Snack Bar Food (burgers, fries, nachos, wings, calamari, pizza, etc.) are served at La Bodeguita Del Majestic on the ‘Caribbean Street’ boardwalk. *It is open from 11pm -6am. Delightful after a long evening of indulgent cocktails. *There is NO food available from 6-6:30pm and 6-7am. Please see snacks in goodie bag if in a panic. *There is a Sports Bar with TVs to watch any events, it also has pool tables. *There is a small Casino with slots machines and 3 or 4 tables to play at. *Coco’s Niteclub (aka The Disco) is open from 11pm-6am. *There is an outdoor pool table/ping pong/giant chess area. *The Garden/Plaza Bar has different entertainment each night ranging from karaoke to a decades themed night to live music to dancing. *There are shows every night in the theatre. *There are basketball courts, tennis courts, and a baseball diamond that you can arrange tournaments at. *Daily entertainment at the Wet Bar and on the beach including salsa lessons, Spanish lessons, arm wrestling, beer races, yoga, etc. (see the full guide in the book) *Non-motorized water sports (kayaking, windsurfing, snorkeling, etc.) are all included. *Reservations are only needed at the ‘Gourmet’ (French restaurant) and Teppanyaki table only (the Japanese restaurant alone does not need a reservation). *Dress Code for the restaurants is long pants and closed toed shoes for guys. HOWEVER, this was not really enforced when we stayed here and many people wore nice shorts and sandals. The French restaurant is the most strict with the dress code. *There are 9 bars on the resort.

- mammajuana - very delish! Combination of bark, red wine, rum, and honey. You will do many of these shots thought your stay! - majestic drink - also delish. Tastes like an orange creamsicle - presidente beer from Dominican - yes to leaving couple of bucks in fridge. It is restocked daily. - brushing teeth : I brushed with tap water... No big deal - snack bar - good food when you've been drinking all night. Funny to see kittens running all over the place when you are sober...lol! - casino...very crappy. Does not even compare - coco's night cub - closes at 4 I believe - shows every night in theatre, with exception of the night the beach party - there are basketball/tennis courts but wayyyy to hot...direct sun - water sports are included - they do enforce dress code Also...there is a market near the resort 5 mins down the road by walking. If you ask the bell man to call one of his friends, they will arrange transport for you and bring you right to their friends shop (Edgar #61) and no one else will haggle you! Totally worth it

No I had a makeup trial done at the shoppers beauty boutique and then purchased all the items and did my own.

I would like to book the DJ for our reception, can you tell me what his style is? Does he allow time for speaches? Does he have games to get the party going? If we want to play certain games with our guests and songs how do we tell him? [Maria Alejandra Says:] Our actual Djs are not MC, they can stay at the reception, playing music but they are not able to entertain or talk as much English with the group. The Djs here can have the style you would like to have, we can talk to them to play only the type of music you like. During the reception, of course you will have time for speeches. We can incorporate an MC that can announce some kind of things like your entrance and the bridal party, the first dance, the dances of the couple with their parents, the bouquet toss and the garter toss, and things like that (simply things), unfortunately they are not able to do games of things require to talk English very much. Puntabride did you book your DJ outside the resort because that's the answer I got ? Not sure who she is referring to that can be incorporated as an MC?

We are getting married June 12th on the Colonial side it is coming sooooo quickly...

Here is our plan...

Ceremony at 3:00 service being done by Pastor York (cost $350 plus $90 to get him on the property. Not a big deal since we were originally going to have a civil ceremony, but changed to Symbolic) so in our mind a wash we were spending the money the first time

Having the ceremony at the gazebo...debating on the decoration package, FI wants it since most of our pictures will be taken there. I am not 100% sold.

Dinner/Reception at 6:30 at the Parrot Bar with a DJ...party for 4 hours

Now here is where I start feeling like I am being nickel-ed and dime-ed death... it is $70 per person plus have to pay for the open bar for the extra hour. I am now thinking that we should just have a 3 hour party then go to the bars/club after wards. I would like to have the reception spot decorated however the centerpieces that I love are $150 each even if you get an event deco package.The deoc package you have to pick one of the 4 they offer. The flowers in the package are fake so I wanted to upgrade them. My FI doesn't want to spend extra money on the reception deco. (but he does on the ceremony- go figure)

The cake I wanted them to add flowers to the basic one... well the flowers are $8.00 each WOW, so now I am thinking I will bring my own topper.

For favors I bought beach bags, wrote a nice welcome/thank you letter and will add a few things to the bag. Tylenol, tums, hand sanitizer, sun screen and post cards (will get them when we arrive)

I am not sure how we will hand these out. I would like the hotel to put them in the guests rooms but I think they charge a fee for this. I will find out when we get there.

I bought fans for $1.00 each at Pier One for the ceremony. I am going to put them on the chairs,so the guest can try to keep themselves cool during the service.

We are using the hotel photographer and video person since they are on site. I watched some of the videos they look good.

I am not sure what package to get, I read that for the photos you should go with the cheapest because they always sell you more later? anyone have any thoughts on that? I was going to get the middle of the road video since most of my family will not be there so I wanted a decent length video for them to watch.

I think that covers everything... my goodness it is just coming so quickly!

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions please share!!
