How did your mom react when she saw you in your wedding gown?

I'd have to say that mom wasn't very excited either. Her interest picked up when all of her friends and other family members expressed interest and excitement. My dad, to this day, won't discuss it. cry.gif

I must say I was a little disappointed too. I know she loves it... but she IS a crier, so I'm a little sad she didn't. Perhaps once it's fitted and I have the veil. But not when I was first trying it on. I must say I was a little disappointed too. I know she loves it... but she IS a crier, so I'm a little sad she didn't. My Mom went with me to try on dresses the first time ... but we didn't really find THE DRESS. Even so, she never gave me any compliments, just would say what DIDN'T look good about the dress (or me). I was very saddened by this since my Mom and I are very close and I thought it would really be a bonding experience. It was anything but. She just kept telling me how I need to lose weight in my underarm area so it "looks better in a strapless gown". Nice, huh? I sat her down a few months ago and told her how it upset me ... especially since recently she has given me plenty of negative comments about how I look ... and nothing positive. She said she didn't realize that she was doing that.

I guess she really is turning in to her mother... lol.

My mom and my friend Lisa came with me. I tried on a few before finding "the one". When they saw on me they just both said "wow!". The my mom said "your first gown (I was married before) was for a girl....now you are a woman...and this one is definately for a woman. this is the one." No tears. but still very cool.

I wouldn't be to concerned if your mom doesn't react the way you would think she would. It doesn't mean she isn't happy. She could just be stunned...like holy cow...my baby girl is getting married. I wouldn't worry.

my mom was with me - when we were in the first store, i came out of the dressing room and i needed to literally walk over to her to get her attention - she was so deep in her own little world that she forgot about me! when we found 'the dress,' she told me it was pretty and that i looked nice in it, but nothing fantastic....i was disappointed too, but had to remember that she is not the emotional type, and can never put any of her thoughts into appropriate words...

my dad is going to come for my first fitting - he'll cry then...he cries at everything.

My mom wouldn't come to see my dress she wanted to see me for the first time in it when I walked down the isle. At my last fitting she couldn't wait any longer though and gave in and came with me. She didn't cry because of the dress but she cried because my dad wasn't going to see me in it. She thought it was perfect and then took a million pictures of me in it. It was my daughters reaction that sold me on my dress, I put it on and she just looked at me and said "mom that is it you are perfect, you are the most beautiful I have ever seen you!" I would have bought a sack if she had looked at me in it like she looked at me in my dress!

my mom & sister wanted to come with me and I really didn't want them to. Well, my instincts were right. I let them come after I narrowed it down to 4 I really liked and everyone I came out in, "oh that ones nice", "oh, what did the last one look like, I don't remember", "Oh, I like that one too", "I think that ones too fancy for a wedding in mexico". Yeah, I left there hating shopping for a dress and instead of buying the one I really wanted I bought one on ebay and ended going back months later and buying the one I wanted from the start.

I was really annoyed and kind of hurt that they were so nonchalant about the whole thing, never really said they loved any of them.

I'm sorry you didn't get the reaction you wanted from your mom, I know how frustrating that is!
