How did your mom react when she saw you in your wedding gown?

Recommended Posts

So, I took my mom with me for my 1st dress fitting last Saturday. Before I went my MOH told me to make sure to take klenex cuz my mom would need them. When she saw me in my dress she kinda just said you look very nice. No expression on her face and definitely no tears. How did your mom react if she already saw you in your gown?

Now I am second guessing myself.. Did I get the right dress, is her indication of her response anything to do with my relationship (we have a great relationship and my mom loves him). Im just bummed that I didn't get the reaction I was expecting...

I wasn't able to take my mom because she' in another state, but I emailed her a few pictures when I was trying to narrow my choices down.. She made a comment about my back looking really fat (uh, sample dress/corset back= back fat!). Nice!!

At least she said you looked nice.. lol

Actually I thought I would have that crying moment myself and it never came. I love my dress alot and even more since my first fitting, but no crying moment. Just a big smile on my face!

My mom was with me when I found "the dress." She told me it was perfect and beautiful and that she loved it... then I decided not to buy it because it was $3000 more than I wanted to spend and she cried because she was so sad that I couldn't have the dress I really wanted.

Needless to say, when she saw the dress I ended up buying (which I love) she thought it looked beautiful, but I definitely didn't get the same reaction! It was really hard for me to deal with her being disappointed, but I realise now that no dress can compare to the first dress in her eyes because she knew I loved it

My mom was with me when I found my dress. I had it narrowed down to 2 dresses and she definitely liked the other one better before I tried them on. But after I had the dress on with the veil and the shoes and everything, and I came out of the dressing room, I could tell she fell in love with it just like I did. She didn't cry, but she did get a little emotional.

Sorry your mom's reaction wasn't what you expected. It doesn't mean you didn't pick the "right one". Her taste is probably different than yours and maybe it wasn't what she was envisioning. I'm sure she will have a different reaction on your wedding day!

My mom lives in a different city so will probably not be with me when I try on dresses. She has been less emotional/excited about my wedding than I thought she would be, though. She loves my FI, but is strangely uninterested in the wedding. Doesn't ask about it much. Very strange.
