Txbrideinmexico- ohhhhhh girl I could go on for days.....I'm having the same problems as you I'm now at 51 guests and this company is making my head spin!!! My fiance and I are so exhausted with these hidden fees and lack of communication crap we are hm how do I says this...we are excited but seriously can't wait to be done with this crap. We are kicking ourselves in the butt now and wished we planned it at home for this kind of money and stress.

Ok so never mind Caribbean Emotions--they are actually based out of Dominican Republic so we would have to pay for their flight and hotel! Ugh.  Back at square 1.  I looked at Photos in Cancun and Del Sol but they are both a bit pricey--we want to do both the photography and a video so paying 2k-4k just for the pictures is tough.  And I do not have any photographer friends :( Any other recommendations or is this what the price range will be for any reputable photographer/videographer in Cancun?

Txbrideinmexico- I totally hear you about the inflexibility and lack of communication of the WC.  I have been having many negative experiences with them.  If it's not because of their beautiful chapel, I would have changed my business elsewhere long time ago.  Everything is by the book.  No negotiating at all.  :-(

I agree with all of you girls...the hotel's lack of communication and flexibility is really frustrating! We thought having a destination wedding would be more simple and easy to plan, but its turning out to be just the opposite! When we went down for a site visit we thought that we would be able to negotiate some things with them in person..but we had no luck at all.

If you want to have a cocktail hour (with food & full bar) it def is an extra $5 per person and I believe an additional $5 is you want hot hors d'ouvers included instead of just cold ones. They said that that the $5 per person is to pay to have a private bar/bartender which is really just BS in my book. We chose to go with it anyway because we don't want our guests to just be served champagne at the cocktail hour, but agreed all of these extra fees are extremely annoying.

I don't know if anyone else has figured this one out since it wasn't communicated very well, but for an extra $10 per person you can get a buffet menu for the reception. It appears to have a lot more food. This is the same as the extra charge to do soup and salad so if there is as much food as a buffet usually has it should be well worth it. I know some prefer plated dinners, but we wanted to go with variety and quantity and don't mind people serving themselves.

Also the cocktail hour thing is BS, but I think since we have open bar coming right up I'm going to opt to save the money there. Half of our guests will be taking pictures at that point anyway...

Also, for photographers we booked Sascha Gluck. He has great reviews on here and the examples of his work in the the chapel are gorgeous! I guess I shouldn't post his price here but I thought it was pretty reasonable. He charges by the hour and you get a certain number of prints for each hour with that price. I also priced out Del Sol and while they do lovely work it was a bit out of my price range.
