2013 Gran Caribe Real/ Royal Cancun Brides

Is anyone else planning to just throw welcome bags together in Mexico? I'm also concerned about hauling things down there, and I'm expecting us to have 50-75 guests. I may purchase the bags here and have some koozies made, but as far as mini tequila bottles, snacks, whatever else we can find I'd rather just deal with it there. I'm also saving centerpieces for Mexico. My Mom and I are devoting a day to go into town and make these purchases. Am I crazy?

Hi txbrideinmexico -

I gave out my welcome bags a week or two before our actual departure.  My husband's family threw us a wedding shower before we left and all the guests going to the wedding were there, so to save all the hassle of keeping receipts, packing, and lugging all the stuff with us, we just gave it to our guests then.  It worked out great for us.

I don't think you are crazy trying to do everything there.  We had our wedding programs made and the person that made then was cutting it really short.  She ended up having to send it via FedEx to the hotel and it was a hassle -- just for some programs!   If you can somehow give them to your guests before hand, I would do that.  If not, try to take a little as you can with you in your luggage/carry-on or just buy stuff at the mercado/markets around there.  I'm from Texas too, and DFW is always packed so we took some stuff in our carry-on with no issues.

I hope this helps!  And please let me know if you have any other questions.  I'd be happy to help!

txbrideinmexico we're also making the bags down there. we're buying limitd supplies up here. from what ive read w/ previous brides they dont experience a hard time with customs. It would just be annoying to travel w all that stuff. we also want to make our own centerpieces down there but just dont want to risk not finding what we want :(

Hi Cindy,

Congrats on your upcoming wedding!!!

The sun sets around 5:30 PM in February. We recommend our gals to confirm their ceremony at least 1.5 hours prior to sunset :)

Hi all!

Thought I would jump in here! I am getting married at the Royal Playa del Carmen very soon! I also did not like any of the floral centre pieces and had planned on bring my own glass vases (only need 3) with me and then was going to add a block/foating candle.  Then I decided that travelling with glass was not the best idea.....I asked my wedding coordinator Maritza if there was any glass vases for rent and there is.  There are a few sizes 10cm-40cm and are priced 9-15$.  I am going to then bring either block or floating candles and will add some color to it somehow!

I have a picture of the vases if anyone is interested!
