Congrats on your recent Wedding!  Any pictures that you could post?  I am getting married there next month, April 22nd.  Also do they still sell flowers at Costco there?  Still wondering what I should do for centerpieces for the tables.  Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks!!

Hello kiska and congrats!  I am getting married at the Riu Santa Fe next month, April 22nd.  I would love to hear about how your wedding went and see pictures if possible.  Also did you go to Wal-Mart or Costco at all and if so did they have flowers and or vases?  I am still unsure of my centerpieces for the wedding.  Any info would be much appreciated.  Thank you!!

Hi There,   I am planning to get married at the Riu Sante Fe May 2014, I have done some research but am coming up confused as I get different answers from different people at the hotel.  Can anyone help me out, I'm stressing and not willing to pay a fortune for a private venue that everyone has already paid ALL INCLUSIVE for.  I can see billing for peoples time but food and booze is ridiculous.  This may make me change my mind on the Sante Fe.  But do not know of a reasonable all inclusive right there at Land's End.   If we have 50-70 people, the ceremony on the beach (Caprice or Royal Package) so semi private dinner at a restaurant that there is a view of the ocean (steakhouse or ?)  Letâ€s say Caprice Package, so the extra people would be $22 each for dinner, cake, domestic drinks and sparkling wine.  (Is it cheaper for children?  As they eat nothing and donâ€t drink alcohol)  Lets say wedding at 4pm, then pics for an hour, dinner around 6.  Then can we have a dj set up at the Tequila Bar from 8-11 ($600 fee) no need for cocktail and appetizer as we will have had dinner.  Open bar for 1 hour (Included in $600 fee).  The information states we cannot have a meal at the Tequila bar.  Do we have to pay extra to have drinks served until 11pm.  Do we have to pay for every person?  Some do not drink at all…   Also when we were there near the Tequila Bar smelled a little like garbage (I think the walkway on the way there is a garbage disposal)  I do not want it to smell during the reception, is this still an issue?  I have also read reviews that the night club smells like stale beer? Ultimately I would like the reception close to the water so I think that would be the Tequila Bar.  I would also check out renting the Disco as a last resort but hope if that was the case it would not smell.   Hoping anyone can help me with this so I can get a clear picture of what our options are.   Does anyone have pictures of their wedding and reception that show where it has taken plave and views they can post?  Any help would be much appreciated.   Thanks Kerri

Hey Kerri,

We just got married about a month ago in Cabo with 60 guests.  We planned to have our wedding at the RIU Santa Fe for almost a year.  I too wanted to save money.   In that year the wedding planner changed 3 times.   I was told different info and pricing from each planner.  Two months before the wedding they changed the  price of the wedding again plus changed our dinner time from 7 to 8.  It was so hard to get a hold of the planner and she didn't really seem like she cared about providing good service what so ever.  We finally had it and moved our wedding to the Sunset Da Mona Lisa.  A little more expensive location but it was so worth it because of how beautiful and private it was.

We were having our dinner at the tequila bar which they would not start until 8 PM and our wedding was at 4.   It was going to cost me $500 location fee plus $40-65 per person for food plus $22 per person after our package amount for the wedding, toast and cake.  Also drinks were I think $13 per person.    We still had all of our guests stay at the RIU and we had our rehearsal & rehearsal dinner there also.  Since we had our rehearsal at the RIU we had to book a wedding to have the dinner there because even though I had 60 people staying there they would not give me a dinner reservation for 20 people without booking a wedding.  I thought that was absurd!  Our rehearsal dinner was at the Steak House at 6.

One thing brides that have not seen the RIU need to know is where you get married on the beach is not a private location.   The pool over looks the wedding location so during our rehearsal drunk people were hanging off the pool yelling comments to us.  Also the ceremony space is between the RIU Santa Fe's massage tent and a chain link fence and people trying to sell stuff on the beach.   If you have not seen the other locations that Cabo has to offer you should look around.

We cut our costs by doing our own flowers and decor.  My guests were flying from all over the US to be at my wedding in cabo and I wanted them to have an experience they would love.    I am not trying to be too hard on the RIU but to inform brides.  I know some brides had a wonderful experience but unfortunately I didn't.   Had I know all the details of the RIU I would have switched earlier and saved myself so much stress.   If you need more info send me a private message and I can send you pics of my wedding and pics of our rehearsal at the RIU so you can see the wedding location there.
