Legal ceremony vs. Symbolic

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I had my heart set on having a friend of ours marry us. I found out in order to have a legal ceremony in Mexico you have to have a Mexican judge marry you. I notice in a lot of brides photos it seems as if a friend is marrying you. Did you first marry legally in the states and then hold a symbolic ceremony? Feel like I want to make it more personal than a judge reading by the book. Any suggestions?

I guess its all what you really feel comfortable with.  Some people would absolutely never get married before they went to their destination because they feel that they want that day at their destination to be the legal day, whereas some people would rather get married first in their native country as it sometimes makes things a lot easier and cheaper.

It really depends what you and your FI decided is more important.  Would you rather have a legal wedding down there without your friend marrying you? Or would you rather have your friend marrying you?  There is never a right or wrong answer, just what feels best for you.
