which resort in Punta Cana?

Recommended Posts

Hey there!  My fiance and I have settled on Punta Cana for a wedding (hopefully next fall), but we're a bit stuck on which resort to have it at.  Affordability for guests is a big consideration.. and obviously food, drinks, relaxation, and fun.

We're staying at the Majestic Elegance in January for a few days, and are also going to look at Melia Caribe.  Does anyone have suggestions for other resorts that we should look at while we're down there?

I appreciate your help!

Lauren

welcome4.gif and congrats!  This website is so helpful with information and ideas!

When we did our site visit we wanted to look at the Majestic Elegance but we were not able to because we did not have an appointment.  I have heard nothing but great things about the Majestic properties though.  We stayed at the Melia Caribe and we looked at Dreams Punta Cana.  We also looked at Riu Palace Punta Cana, which is the resort we decided to go with so ofcourse I will suggest looking there :)  We were very limited on time when we went but if we had more time I would of wanted to check out the Hard Rock too as it seems like such a big fun resort.  We will prob take a cab and go to the Hard Rock one night while we are in DR for a night of gambling and just to hang out.

Good luck with your decision!  Enjoy your site visit and let us all know what you decide!

What did you think of the Melia?  We booked the Jellyfish for wedding and reception, but are working with a TA to book our resort.  The Melia is super close to the Jellyfish, which is nice, but I have heard somewhat mixed reviews of the resort itself.  We are also considering Dreams PB PC and ME/MC.

I attended my brother's wedding at the Excellence Punta Cana in March of 2010 and it was absolutely beautiful. I'm actually considering the Excellence in Mexico because of how wonderful their wedding was and how awesome my sister-in-law said they were to work with.

Her day went off flawlessly. We had about 40 people that traveled with us and we all had an amazing time! The customer service was exceptional, the rooms were great (not very updated, but not bad), the pools, beach, entertainment and activities were all great.

The only reason I'm not going back there is because there will be a lot of the same people attending my wedding and I want to bring them to a different location.
