making great progress!!! and you're lucky - the hair do and make up at your resort are pretty reasonable. I won't tell you the nutso rates they are charging me. Ahh...paying for my resort choice now lol

As for flowers/decor/etc., I think that all gets decided shortly before the wedding, but I have an idea of what I want for flowers, so hopefully that'll be easy.

Our final payments are due at check-out, together with all the other fees.

Also planning to do a religious ceremony locally next month for the relatives that can't make it, so working on that a bit too, although luckily mother in law is handling that event!

With the guest book, you could do different colored or shaped note cards of a sort. Check out Paper Source's different options - I have square scallop edged cards for instance. Then using a cheap frame from Michael's (or whichever craft store is near you), jazz it up a bit, use white card stock and frame the particular card for each year. Then on the glass itself, with either a sharpie or dry erase marker you can put "advise for the newlyweds on their 1 year anniversary" and so on. 

 

so it could be blue squares = 1 year, white circles = 5 years, etc. 

 

we went with a favor that is an ornament for the christmas tree, and wind chimes for our parents (his mother doesn't celebrate christmas, so no tree!). they are small enough to easily transport down there. 

 

you have the 100 guests, right? what about going to the market in Mexico and getting maracas there? or whatever else you might find...?

The couple plans to open the casks and the notes on those anniversaries! I love this idea, but again, worried about how much we're transporting (there and/or back). Any unique ideas would also be very appreciated!

Our first dance song is "Un Amor" by the Gipsy Kings... so the dance is going to be Latin...some salsa...some other moves we have yet to learn We're goin for something a bit untraditional

I think hair/makeup and trials are included in the wedding package, so that's nice, I just hope they do a good job!

These ideas are really cute!! I agree though, it's quite cumbersome. For our guestbook, we're gonna use our engagement photos in one of those album books where you ask funny/interesting questions and guests respond to them....I never know what to write in guestbooks w/o sounding too generic so I thought it'd be fun to have the questions prepared.

 

As for favors, we're doing flip flop luggage tags... useful and easy to transport. No one ever has enough (or any) luggage tags!! They also double as seat assignments since you can write their names in advance and lay them out on the seat assignment table.

Thanks, AllieH! Any excuse to make another trip to Paper Source is a good one :-). And yes, we'll have almost 150 guests, so we're leaning towards buying something in Mexico.

Can I ask a stupid question...If you already have all your guests booked - why do you need invitations? what are you putting in them? I didn't realize we were supposed to. I sent save the dates and then everyone booked. ... am I missing something super obvious?

I am sending 2 types of invitations out: standard invitiations I ordered off Vistaprint for the people that we sent Save the Dates, Bridal Shower, etc invites to but are not coming to Mexico.  We are also planning on adding an insert stating that we will be having in open house sometime in Jan 2013 after the holidays. 

 

For the people that are coming with us to Mexico I am making DIY boarding pass invites.  These invites have the invite, the wedding day schedule and the Welcome Dinner invite on them- so it's like 2 invites in one!
