We also own this:

For anyone concerned about the $500 charge for the "sound system", consider this an option.  It's $400, and it's AWESOME.  I got it for my fiance last year for a Christmas present, and we use it ALL THE TIME. We're actually considering using this instead of the sound system they provide, but we're not sure.

Thanks again for all the advise about the welcome dinner and the substitutions on the reception menu.  All things I did not know or think to ask!  You ladies are so helpful!  We'll probably be picking our meal soon.  That is smart about bailing on the soup I think... does seem like a rather warm dish for the summer!  And just to make this clear (it really wasn't so when I talked to Gloria), if we do a "welcome dinner", we have to have a SET menu still?  Gloria did send me some Menus from Agave and Toscana, but I thought it was mainly to determine which restaurant we wanted to have our welcome dinner at!?  Not to pick another SET menu!?  Bah!  I agree that our guests are paying thousands of dollars to come to the resort to celebrate with us... I want them to have SOME choice in what they eat for the few days they're there!  That is why we wanted an all-inclusive resort!!!!

Reception on the beach sounds like it will be amazing!  How fun to have the whole sha-bang when you get home too.  We're doing a WAY more informal at-home-reception a month after we return... we're doing a picnic-style Saturday afternoon fiesta with food, drinks, and other outdoor activity!

And no, I don't think it's tacky at all not to have a guest book... not sure we're doing one ourselves... just thought I'd get an opinion out there!

I think, overall, we're VERY lucky ladies!!!  Like many posters say, our weddings will be beautiful no matter what!!!  We'll be in Mexico after all, right!?  Also, I think by nature, none of us could possibly be TOO BIG of control freaks... our we wouldn't be having a destination-style wedding in the first place!!

Wow, I may have to look into that Bose! It would probably be perfect for us!

I actually think your picnic-style sounds AMAZING! My family was all kind of bummed that we were doing a DW so I felt like I needed to have something formal at home. My fiance and I are both super laid back and would far prefer something like you are doing, that just sounds awesome!

I also agree, we are very lucky! We'll have to share pics once our fabulous weddings are over!

Hello Ladies! I have not gone through everything everyone has said, but I did get married here on 09/17/2011. Everything was wonderful and I worked with Nayeli. We had a very small wedding, but I wouldn't have had it any other way or any other place. I did my own makeup, but had my hair done there. The price was, I believe, $60 and it was GREAT! She worked so very hard on it and it did not BUDGE! For our reception, we had the French restaurant (Chez Isabelle) reserved for us (it was closed that night) and picked our menu. It was absolutely perfect, very private, and the service and food was great. We live in Nashville, TN and we flew our own photographer in.IMG_2856.jpgIMG_2874.jpgIMG_2670.jpgIMG_3171.jpgIMG_3290.jpg

Hello ladies!! I have not read everything through this thread, but I just wanted to say I got married here on 9/17/2011. When I was planning my wedding, this website helped me a lot, so I want to return the favor. Everything was perfect and I would not have changed a thing. My wedding was extremely small, but was wonderful. My husband and I arrived one day before our wedding, and had a meeting almost immediately with Gloria. Gloria is SUPER sweet, but my main wedding planner I worked with was Nayeli. This day I chose the color for the sashes on the chairs and my cake. I had originally chosen a different cake, but was notified they could do something different once I got there, so I chose a white cake with real strawberry filling between layers. It was absolutely delicious. I also asked to have roses matching my bouquet on top of the cake. We had our reception in the French restaurant (Chez Isabelle) and picked our whole menu. It was closed that day, so it was reserved only for us, which I really enjoyed and felt was very special and intimate. The food was absolutely delicious. We (my husband and I) were at least 30 minutes late to the reception due to taking pictures, but they did not seem irritated in the slightest and the service was top notch. When we got back to our room, it was decorated with roses, chilled champagne, and fresh fruit, as well as a "honeymooners" sash on our door. Literally, almost every door you walked past said "anniversary" or "honeymoon." Everything was great and we truly enjoyed not only our wedding, but our entire stay here!

Here are some pictures from our special day! We are from Nashville, TN and flew in our own photographer. Also, forgot to note, I had my hair done at the spa and she did such an amazing job and was VERY meticulous. I had champagne while I got my hair done and they also brought me chocolate covered strawberries. My hair did not BUDGE and I loved it so much. I did my own makeup.

Bridetobe11... I also thank you for sharing your pictures!!  Looks beautiful, and makes me even more excited for my own wedding in two months!

Your hair looks great!  Did the wedding coordinators book your appointment @ the spa?  Or did you contact the spa yourself?

Welcome drinks... that is a good idea too...

Do you guys have itineraries for your guests?  I haven't put much thought into this to be honest... but now I am starting to wonder how you communicate with everyone!  I'm assuming there will not be normal cell phone coverage!

How are all you ladies working out this communication piece?!  Now I'm wondering how we even figure out who is in what room, etc.

Also, none of the planners have mentioned a "rehearsal" to me... anyone doing one of these?  Or are these normal?

Apparently you all have become my wedding planners... I suppose Gloria will appreciate not getting bombarded with 400 emails from me with 1 question in each! ahah!
