Excellence Riviera Cancun Brides?

Recommended Posts

@CaitlinG

We have not decided yet. I want to stay for a while as this will be our honeymoon, too! We are going to fly in on the 1st and i'm not sure how long we are staying. How about you? Have you been to the resort before? We were down in January to select a resort. We really love it there. You should request me on FB so we can keep in touch! [email protected]

The hardest part for me so far is I don't know if 50 people or 100 people are going to come so I can't choose a venue confidently! I don't really like any of the options if you have over 60, Beach or Ballroom. I guess we will just have to wait and see! Makes planning difficult not knowing where our reception will be yet. We have Lobster House on hold with the ballroom as a backup. I'm praying we end up with less people so we can be in the lobster restaurant, ha!

Will definitely have to have a celebratory drink! Have you decided on photographer or dj or any of that yet? The costs add up SO quick!

We are doing the legal ceremony so we're flying in 10/29 and staying until 11/10 or 11/11. So we will be there for about two weeks, this will be our honeymoon too! We have been to Riviera Maya a few times, but never to this resort specifically. I have some friends and family who highly recommend it though! So we're pretty much planning blindly.

We think we'll have under 50 people which makes it a little easier, but it's still hard when you don't know exactly how many people. I definitely wanted to be somewhere semi outdoors for the reception so I'm hoping Las Olas works out for us.

As of now we are just going with the in house photographer and DJ. Booking them was really easy, and we're trying to cut costs where we can so didn't really want to pay an outside vendor fee. You're right it all adds up!! I'm trying to be less stressed about the details, vendors, etc., and more focused on having a fun vacation with family and friends! It's going to be here before we know it I'm sure.

@@CaitlinG good idea on the lights. I hope a few strands will be enough as we are also trying to save on costs, although we are going to use Alquima for flowers and upgraded chairs.

Hey @@Lindzyml! We are using the resort DJ but found an offsite photographer for a rate that's very affordable, even with the vendor fee it is still cheaper than the resort photographer and I'm more confident in her.

What are you both doing for centerpieces?

@@CaitlinG @@Lindzyml - my wedding at the ERC will take place in August,  I will share any info I can and photos when I get back and hope it will be helpful for you. There is a really great facebook group called "We Love the Excellence Riviera Cancun" that shares information about the resort in general that I have found helpful so far.

@@JulieStaad - would you mind sharing the name of the photographer you are using? Was thinking we would use the resort photographer but would love to see another option :)

  • 3 weeks later...

Hi to all!

I just posted on the we love ERC facebook page for some opinions, but wanted to check with this group. It looks like we are going to be over 50 guests for our wedding so our reception options are super limited. Agave, Beach or Ballroom. I worry that the ballroom we would have to bring so much in to have some ambiance and will end up costing a ton. Beach, I worry about the wind and the sand for dinner and dancing. I really wanted the lobster restaurant, I wish it was larger.

Has anyone had a reception at Agave? Was it really hot? I worry that it being back some and not facing the water, it may be a hot box. Anyone have pictures they could share or opinions on any of my 3 options?

Thank you!!

@@JulieStaad Hey, sorry I just realized I never responded to you. I honestly have no idea for centerpieces. I want to save money here so will probably buy inexpensive table runners and try to make something at home to pack and bring. I feel like i'm going to be bringing a TON. Thinking of going to goodwill and buying old suitcases to bring down that I can just leave down there after the wedding. Do you know yet? I really want to upgrade the chairs and bring in a photographer, so need to save money where I can. It sure adds up fast!!

Hi there! I had over 50 people for my wedding in January and did my reception at the Grill, which is very similar to the Lobster House. I did 6 round tables of 10 people, and the dance floor seemed big enough for everyone. Depending on how many people you actually have you might be able to make it fit. Have you also looked into the Ballroom Foyer or Oregano? Agave would be very pretty, but it will likely be very warm without the ocean breeze. We did our rehearsal dinner in Garibaldi Square next to Agave and it was warm.. not uncomfortable, but adding in some dancing would be another story. Another idea.. Las Olas could work with some version of tables on the platform and a dance floor in the sand or vice versa. Just throwing out as many ideas as I can think of!
