Excellence Riviera Cancun Brides?

@@lynne1609 - wow so adorable!

@JamieCKL - Sorry, I meant no bridal party. So it was just my mom and I walking in.

For before the wedding, I had a whole playlist (not sure what they got to since I wasn't there). "Make you feel my love" by Adele, and Like I'm gonna lose you by Megan Trainor, and beat of the music by Brett Eldridge, Some Bob Marley etc, Jack Johnson.

Then I walked down to A Thousand Years - Christina Perri ;)

After the wedding we played "I do" by Colbie Callait, I wanted something fun and peppy.

Past brides, I'm trying to figure out the menu. What did you guys choose for the vegetarian entree? The options my WC sent are basically a potato, veggie lasagna or a veggie casserole and none of them sound that good.

Hi Ladies!  I sent off my first list of questions (after accumulating them like everyone suggested) to Thamara, our assigned coordinator!  It's been a week, but that seems normal based on experiences I've read.  Anyone know about how long they are at to return with answers?

Also, we have never been to Excellence - Where would I find a list of excursions and prices?  We are staying after for our honeymoon and want to get off the resort and do fun things like ziplining or parasailing..

Hello! We are working with funjet for our wedding and travel accommodations and they just recommended Maroma Adventures for excursions. Full disclosure- I have not had a chance to look at the website yet!

If you are looking for an awesome zip lining experience check out Xplor. We went little while ago and it was incredible. You can even go at night on some days and everything is lit by fire. It's really out of this world.

Another great excursion is Xel-Ha. Incredible snorkeling.

If you are wanting to do ruins there is always Chichen Itza or Tulum. Coba is amazing and just a little further than Tulum. You can rent bikes and ride through the jungle under the canopy of trees. AND YOU CAN CLIMB THE RUINS!!!!

If you are interested in nature and exploring there is also Sian Ka'an and the Muyil Ruins which is an absolutely amazing experience.

Your best bet for the best deal is to look online and go into Playa del Carmen. There will be tones of tour operators especially on 10th ave and you can save quite a bit compared to the resort. We used a tour operator on the corner of 10th ave and 10th street north

Hello Everybody!

Just got back from Excellence.  The wedding was perfect.

My only issue was with the cocktail hour...we had 16 guests (bride and groom included) and we chose Las Olas for our cocktail hour. They only set up 2 tables (high boys) and the rest of the space was empty. It was very awkward and we kinda didn't know what to do with ourselves. The 2 tables were very tiny and we didn't have enough space to all put down our drinks or bags (for the ladies.)  Had there been a few more tables, it would have been more comfortable and the space wouldn't have looked so empty. They also only came around once with the food during the cocktail hour. All the food choices were on one platter and the server walked around with the one tray, only one time. Very weird. This also made the hour awkward because once the waiter walked around, there was nothing else for us to do.

Reception and ceremony were great. Everything went exactly as planned. The wedding coordinator set up all my decorations beautifully. I couldn't have done it better myself.

Not to scare anyone, but I never met Thamara (my wedding coordinator.)  I was expecting to meet her at our meeting when we arrived at the resort. But it was someone we never dealt with before (her name was Ariana and she was wonderful.) So I was a little nervous (ok, a lot nervous!), but Ariana was great and patient with us.

Another side note, the main dish at the reception is kinda small, so your guests might still be hungry.  The salad was also small, but the soup was a full size bowl. We had the lobster bisque...OUT OF THIS WORLD!  All the food was fantastic.

Ladies, feel free to ask me any and all questions and I will be MORE THAN HAPPY to answer/help you.

We hired Victor Herrera as our photographer (the man is amazing!!!!!!) and we only got a hand full of our pictures back (a tease  lol). We also took advantage of the free 25 ceremony pictures that the hotel photographer offered.

Here is the link to some pictures that Victor Herrera took...

  • 2 weeks later...

Thanks for the feedback @@Tighev!  You looked beautiful!

I just received the response from my email (3 weeks exactly) and I was informed I now have Ariana as my coordinator too.  I feel like I was really straight forward with my questions, but she really didn't answer some of them, so I hope you ladies can help.

I asked her what reception venues are NOT available on a Saturday, and she just said none have been booked yet.  I think I remember reading that some aren't available certain days.  Does anyone know off the top of their head which ones aren't?

Another thing I asked was the cost of additional boutonnieres, to which she didn't respond at all.  I know they will probably vary on price for what you pick, but what are you guys getting quoted?  She did say the bridesmaids bouquets would be $75 a piece.

A lot of things she just referred me to other people to answer, so it looks like I will be sending more emails today!

@@mam9p8   Thank you!!

I believe that all venues are available on all days, as long as someone else hasn't booked it for the same day (they can hold up to 3 weddings on a single day.) So you shouldn't worry about a venue not being available.

Also, certain bouquets are $75. So if you told her exactly which bouquets you wanted and she gave you that price, then it's correct. Boutonnieres range from $35-$50.      I've attached the price list so you can see everything.

Ariana wound up being my coordinator once I got there. I had no communication with her before hand so I was surprised when I met her at our meeting when we arrived at the resort. She is very sweet, soft spoken, and calm. I was very nervous that things would not go as planned...but she did a great job and even came to my room the day of the wedding to ask questions about how I wanted things set up at the reception. We had discussed it all at our first meeting...but any questions that arose the day of the wedding, while she was setting up, she came to ask me.

I found that when I wasn't able to get answers from the wedding coordinator through email, I asked on this forum and everyone was SUPER helpful and gave me all the information I needed.

Let me know if I can help in any way.

@@mam9p8 If you want to have your reception at one of the restaurants, those might not be available on a certain day. For example, I know the Lobster House is only available on Fridays. I'm having mine at Oregano's on a Saturday and welcome dinner at Agave on Friday. I uploaded a lot of the brochures and info I received from the wedding coordinator to my public google drive folder, if you want to look at the full flower catalogue. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_zoyOhoKIAhellKeW03UWVPSWc

@@Tighev how did you add the attachment! I can't figure out how so I just keep linking to my google drive where I have some of my info.
