Introducing myself!

Hi everyone!

I am new here, and as all of you dear brides-to-be, I found the man I am going to spend the rest of my life with.. so happy!

We will be married in March 2012, and we would like to held a little ceremony at the caribbean.. just for the two of us! (or budget is short, so we will celebrate later with our relatives back home)

To begin, we have 3 countries in mind:  Jamaica, Mexico and the Dominican Republic. My first question to start would be: Which country? and the second: which hotel?

I have nothing set yet, so I am starting through here, getting info from all your experiences.. I am thrilled to share the planning process with you!

Vanessa

welcome4.gifand Congratulations! There's a ton of information on here and it can be very overwhelming especially in the beginning. Picking the location and the resort is by far the most difficult decision. I changed my mind every 5 minutes. I finally decided on Azul Sensatori in Riviera Maya, Mexico. I've not allowed myself to continue looking because there are so many great hotels out there. Start reading the reviews on here and see what sticks out at you. I'd also suggest hooking up with a travel agent. He'll be able to suggest a few resorts you can then research further. Happy Planning!

Welcome!!!

I agree with the FutureMrsF - check out the reviews here and consider hooking up with a travel agent who can help you narrow down your search. Some of the initial things that helped me narrow down location and resort were...

-Check out flight options, times and cost from the cities your guests are flying from, that might help you make an educated decision on location.

-Are kids attending? If so, that eliminates some adult only resorts.

-Think about what kind of resort are you looking for -- small (intimate resort), medium or large.

Welcome!

For us choosing a location and resort was the hardest part.  I would suggest sitting down together and making a list of what you want from a resort.  Ex all inclusive v non all inclusive, size of resort, amenities provided at resort ect.  Good luck with your decision!

  • 1 month later...

Thanks everyone, and happy new year!!

I checked out all the forums, as Starchild suggested. It was hard to make up my mind, but we finally ended up choosing Paradisus Palma Real Resort, at the Dominican. We are so excited!

Now we are going with decoration (I definitively want orchid arrangements as centerpieces) and food..  any suggestions about reception dinner menu?
