What kind of ring did you buy him?

Hub has a black tungsten carbide ring, and I bought a thin silver coloured one for myself, but I actually had an allergic reaction to it and ended up sending it back and getting a titanium one instead.  I like titanium and tungsten because they're a little more durable than gold, but as I learned (the hard way I might add!), if you have nickel allergies then stay away from tungsten because they usually use nickel as a binder in tungsten carbide rings.  If you're worried about allergies, titanium all the way!  If allergies aren't an issue, then I think it just comes down to the style of the ring itself.  I will say though since I've had both types of rings that tungsten looks like a dark grey, looks VERY different from white gold, but titanium looks only a shade darker.  When I wear it with my engagement ring (which is white gold) it isn't nearly as noticable that it's a different colour.

HTH!!

We bought white gold for him.

You can't cut tungsten, and it close to impossible to cut titanium, so if your hubby works with hands or play some sports where his finger can get caught, I would not recommend either. I feel white gold is more safe due to that issue. If anything it can easily be cut off his finger. Tungsten will shutter if you need to free his finger, but you wont be able to put it back together. Also both of those metals can't be resized. So if he will gain some weight down the road he might have to get a new ring if you go with tungsten or titanium. I hope it helps

We choose to go with titanium.  The reason we chose this was the price.  We were able to purchase one from overstock.com for about 60 dollars with shipping included.  My FI doesn't think he will wear a ring all that much.  He works in the oilfield and isn;t allowed to wear rings out there so he wont be wearing it to work, so there was no need to worry about cutting it.  We decided that if he does want to wear a ring more often then we will pay the money to purchase a gold one.

FI was so excited about tungsten for months (because he works with his hands and thought Tungsten was better for those reasons), but somehow left with a white gold band today. Don't know how that happened (lol) but for me, I was concerned about the tungsten cracking in two if it should absorb a heavy impact, or even worse, his inability to get the ring off at all in an emergency! Or weight gain...

We got him a Titanium, for anumber or reasons, 1st the price, he has lost every ring that I've got him so we didn't want to pay too much for one that he may lose eventually. 2nd we plan on getting a white gold ring for our anniversary, I need (hehe) an eternity band to go a long with my E-ring and wed band, to complete to look, and we agreed that he will get another band to wear for special occasions. Win Win ;)
