I spoke to a bride who is currently on site at the Gran Caribe in Cancun this morning. She said the sun was out and everyone was at the pool and on the beach. Locally the word is that the hurricane is being downgraded to a category 1 from a category 2, and is aiming more at Cozemel than the Cancun area. So this is all news that is pointing towards the positive for brides in the next week or so. Hopefully it will continue to weaken in the next 24 hours.

Hang in there and think good thoughts. The resorts have been through this before and know how to handle this and are very accomodating for the guests.

Best wishes to all!

I live in Playa del Carmen and everybody is getting ready for tomorrow RINA coming. It should be ‘only†an hurricane category 1. So because we are prepare for that, I guest all the area will ready to continue to receive events and wedding 2 or 3 days after.

ASAP RINA will be gone, I will give some new about!

Awww thanks, sweetie!!! And boy, did you take the words right outta my mouth. Byebye excitement, hello anxiety!!!

We are flying Continental. I feel like often, it's luck of the draw and depends on who you get on the phone. My fiance called them yesterday and they said that we could reschedule to a later flight and it would be at no cost. When we contacted our resort (Moon Palace) they said everything was still a "go" and they didn't anticipate issues with flights, transportation, etc. I will admit... I'm really worried about everything still, and if I can marry on the beach, and if the resort/property will be okay, and if everyone is safe (locals and tourists)... I'm a worry bug!

All that said, we are still going. Come Hell or High Water, I am marrying this man on 11.1.11. We actually took a vote within our group and asked for everyone's input. I was a bit surprised, but everyone is still game to go! So.. let's all keep praying! :)

What are your plans?

Have you contacted your airline to see what they are saying?  Please keep me up to date on what your plans are, because I have certainly got my fingers crossed for you.

With the downgrading of the storm, I think you will be fine.  She will be a minimal Category 1 if not a tropical storm by the time it reaches Cancun - so I think your resort will be basically back to normal by November 1st.  I am glad all of your guests still wanted to go and make it an adventure - they sound very supportive.

At this point, my anxiety has dropped a few notches and everything will proceed as planned for our trip (assuming no unexpected damage at the resort or airport).  The forecast looks rainy for a lot of our trip so far, but after being worried that we wouldn't even be able to go - I will take it.

Thank you so much for taking the time to post the picture and let us know everything is okay.  I am sure it makes a lot of us feel better.

No problem for your weddings in the area!

It is great to know all is well this morning. I have one couple I have been working with on site now at the Gran Caribe for their wedding and a couple of their guests flew from Germany to Miami yesterday afternoon only to be told by AA that their flight to Cancun was canceled and that AA would not be operating today either. They could stand by for Saturday!  Luckily Aero Mexico was flying business as usual, and when they called me I was able to get their ticket assigned over to Aero Mexico and they actually took off a couple of hours earlier than they would have if they had been on the original AA flight!

This is actually a good demonstration of why it can be a good thing to use a travel agent. Clients who come across issues have someone who they can call and who will move heaven and earth to help them! Online search engines? Not so much!

Glad that everyone is safe and the storm has moved on!
