I just got married at ROR and have been back for a few weeks. I know when I was planning I had so may specific questions and concerns and did not get some of my answers I thought I needed.

I will say that other peoples advice to relax and just enjoy is true, but it is hard to take as your big day is coming up.

I had a wedding of 62 people. I had the gazebo wedding in the garden and had a private reception on the ballroom terrace. It was fantastic!!!

I had Keisha as my coordinator, and she was great. The staff was friendly and helpful and I could not really complain about much.

If you have any specific questions that you have not been able to answer please feel free to ask. You can email me direct at [email protected].

Happy planning!!!

Congrats!! I am glad it went so well for you!! Who did you use as your photographer, I am still seaching for one, I seen many bad reviews on the hotel photog so I have been emailing others that are in the area.
For a photographer check out Merrick Cousley...he has great reviews and prices are good. I booked him for my wedding next year at ROR.

I have couple of questions maybe some of you girls might know.

I am doing semi private dinner and then thinking beach reception but because its a Saturday night I read somewhere that they have beach party/bonfire night every Sat anyway so would this make a difference?I am guessing there be a DJ at that already who might play a song or two for us.

Also how long is the ceremony and how much was the registrar/minister fee?

Thanks!!

I just got married at ROR on July 14 :)

To your question about the beach party conflicting w/ your reception: it really won't at all. First of all, this resort is ENORMOUS. They could have 5 separate events taking place along their beach without the guests noticing any other event taking place. Also, the beach party is not until 9pm, and your reception will probably be much earlier than that. Usually all the receptions are at 6:30, but I cannot speak for certain about a private beach reception. Either way though, you will be fine because it is SUCH a long beach.

I had a semi-private dinner reception, and it was the best food we had the whole 12 days we stayed there. The beef tenderloin was so tender, I cut it with my butter knife. The free cake was amazing, and much bigger than it needed to be...a 3 tier cake for only 15 ppl. They also served beer, wine, and champagne during dinner without an extra charge. There were two other semi-private receptions going on at the same time as mine, and we really didn't notice them as one was on the other side of the restaurant, and the other was on the floor above us. There were no other non-wedding people eating at the restaurant during this time. And the way the restaurant is shaped, we were kind of on our own little terrace with three sides enclosed, so it really felt more private than I expected. I thought it would be more like a long table set up off to the side in a crowded restaurant, but that was not the case at all. We had two waitresses to ourselves and they were very attentive. I didn't rent the nightclub or anything because we only had 15 guests and I thought that would be very awkward to have a whole club to ourselves. We are just going to do our dances at our at-home reception. Basically after the dinner reception we all went and changed into our "cocktail attire" and met up at one of the bars and had drinks. Worked out very well.

Just FYI even though you didn't ask about this, I really cannot imagine how they charge anyone extra money for having an "open bar" at any of their events, except that they know that before the bride gets there she doesn't realize that there is really not anywhere on the resort where you are not 5 feet away from an open bar. So people are paying a lot of money for them to set a up a folding table and carry alcohol from the bar five feet away and set it up for them. I am glad I did not pay extra for that because I would have felt like I had really wasted money.

The ceremony is 30 minutes, minister fee is $360 USD.

Another quick piece of advice for you, check to see what time the sun sets in Ocho Rios during your wedding so you know when you're trying to plan things, especially pictures, beach dinners, etc., because it sets EARLY there, like 6pm in July. It will be dark during your reception for sure.

Congratulations...you must really be getting excited...time is winding up.

Im actually having my wedding day, twenty days after yours at the same three o clock time, i was thinking about doing a cocktail hour.

but was wondering was it really worth it, to spend the extra amount of money when most of my guess are staying at hotel already with

everything inclusive.

I would really not pay for a cocktail hour. I thought about it when I was planning, but I am so glad I did not choose to because it would have been just giving money away for no reason. There is literally free alcohol everywhere you turn on this resort. Unless you are having a very large wedding where you would need a lot of bar staff to accommodate your group, there is no reason to pay extra for this. They automatically set up rum punch on the beach right after your reception, this is standard, and I didn't know that beforehand, I thought it was an "extra," but they do it free for every single wedding. And if rum punch isn't enough for you, you can walk ten steps in any direction and find yourself at one of the bars.

Thanks Blujaye,

It is true that the bars are really very close together. so there is really not a need to pay extra for an open bar.

I am actually have a private reception, so I cant remember if I have to get an open bar...I must inquire about this. I'm all about saving money.

Hey everyone.  I just wanted to share some things as I continue the planning and find some good deals.  I just got my OOT bags in the mail, and they are awesome!! It took me a while to find bags that were both inexpensive and good quality.  Most sites I came across had a limit of like 100 bags I would have to buy to get the good price when I only needed about 20.  So I found these bags (cotton bags) for $1.80 a bag!  They have different colors as well.  I decided on the black and I am going to get something pressed on them, probably something like "Rio Ocho Rios, Jamaica" in the Jamaican colors. If anyone is searching for bags check out the site

I am getting married on the beach and my girls and I want to wear bearfoot sandals. I have been on the search for them and have found a lot of cute ones but they are about 40 a pair.  I am planning on buying them for myself and also my 5 bridesmaids.  I found a way to make them myself and they turned out really cute.  The pic below is the first ones I made just trying to figure it out and they came out pretty good.  I think I am going to make them for us instead of spending a lot of money on them becuase I really want to splurge on other gifts for them. Let me know what everyone thinks. Thanks!! Also, is anyone else doing the bags, if so what are you putting in them? Happy planning :)
