Dreams Cancun 2013 Destination Wedding Brides

Recommended Posts

Hey ladies... I'm getting married at the Gazebo at the Dreams Resort on May 31st 2013. I've been told it's super windy and it's not a good idea to wear a long veil or wear your hair down.. is that true? Has anyone made a site visit to check out if it is windy? What type of veil are all of you wearing? How will you be doing your hair?

Jen - I did a Site visit April 12. The Gazebo sits on a point and therefore is exposed to more wind than most locations. My plan is to wear my hair down, however If i wake up that morning and it is really windy, i will have a back up plan to pull it up. I saw 5 weddings while i was there, and most had there hair pulled up due to the wind.

I reall wanted a long veil to go with my mermaid dress but I'm a heavier set girl and really don't like the way my hair looks up. I prefer it down but I'm worried the wind will be a problem and will be blowing everywhere. I'm a little confused with what type of veil to get as well. Some veils I feel are made for hair that's up while other's are made for hair that is down. You mentioned you had a back up plan... can you let me know what it is?

Absolutely - My back up plan is this:

The link is to a woman's hair who is set up as a loose updo that gets a pin pulled and becomes a half up half down, thus allowing a loose style look for the ceremony (where it is windy) but all my photos will be half down. (how I want my pics to look and should be better) :)

This is beautiful! Who is doing your make-up and hair? I hired Fernando Fuentes.

Hey ladies,

In case any of you brides out there really want Mariachi's at your wedding (I plan on having them play while I walk down the aisle) let me know and I can give you the contact information for a company out in Playa de Carmen that offers them. The hotel is charging an obscene amount and this company only charges $400.00 per set (45 minutes) for a 6 person mariachi band and $600.00 per set (45 minutes) for a 9 person mariachi band. They also charge an additional $150.00 for travel expenses, but it's well worth the money when you compare the pricing the hotel is charging.

I heard about Fernando on here as previous brides have used him. I've heard the resorts make-up and hair stylist are so so and that is something I really don't want to take a chance on. I've seen Fernando's work and it is amazing! I can send his info info if you would like. He's not cheap and you will have to pay an outside vendor fee, but in my opinion he is well worth it. This is the one day that I think us ladies should be able to splurge on ourselves! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
