@@Danielle1 and @,

Thank you so much for your answers!

You are both right, I really don't want to stress over something like this on my wedding day, it is definitely not worth it. Booking nights for the photographer is also really expensive, and coming from Canada the dollar conversion rate is horrible right now... I am trying to negotiate something with the wedding coordinator. The alternative would be to book DreamArt, any thoughts on their work?

@@Cancun2016 I'd say that it's very risky. Chances are that your coordinator will be able to tell that it's a professional photographer and not a friend, they are pretty knowledgeable and have done many weddings - they are also very present during the day of.. my coordinator was around for the entire wedding. You can maybe get around it with flowers, but honestly, I don't think you can with a photographer. I tried to do the same thing, but in the end I decided it wasn't worth the risk of anything going wrong on my wedding day.

@@Cancun2016 I brought an outside photographer and wasn't charged an outside vendor fee. However, my photographers stayed at the Hotel for 4 nights, they were on my room block list, and I even had seats for them at the reception (they didn't use them, but I thought it made it seem like they were actual wedding guests... ha!).  I had asked about this months in advance of my wedding, and was told that I would be charged a $400 fee even though they were staying at the hotel. I thought that was really dumb, but I was prepared to pay the $400 if necessary.  I think the only reason I wasn't charged the $400 may have been because they were staying at the hotel (and maybe because my wedding coordinator was amazing?).

I think you could try to get away with buying the photographer a day pass only, but I would be prepared to pay the $800 just in case.  You don't want to get in an argument with your wedding coordinator on your wedding day... that could really ruin the mood!

@@Cancun2016 I personally wasn't a huge fan, but everyone sees photography a different way and can appreciate art forms differently.

We used Lancelotti Photography (who is a bit of an 'underdog' on this forum), but they did an amazing job and didn't disappoint at all. They are also very affordable.

I'm also Canadian and had to worry about the conversion/costs.

Hi!

Does anyone know if extra lighting is crucial for the Palenque Terrace? I was quoted $1500 for 8 strands of twinkle lights and am wondering if it's even necessary to have them or if the surrounding light will be enough. My reception is scheduled to be from 5-10pm (including cocktail hour) so there will definitely be lots of time after sunset. I'm even considering moving my reception earlier to avoid having to pay for extra lighting.

Also, we're having an event on Sky Bar South the day after our wedding and are wondering if there will be music playing up there or if we need to bring a speaker/pay for a vendor again.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks :):):)

Hi there! I'm getting married at Beach Palace in April 2017. I was told the same thing about the Palenque Terrace, that you have to bring lighting in. We decided to go into the ballroom because the $1500 fee was canceled out by the lighting required outside. Of course, I did that before I found out a dance floor is not included in the ballroom rental fee... but we decided to keep it just to ensure it's not too humid for all the dancing.

Regarding the Sky Terrace, I was told the speakers there are plug and play if you bring an iPod or something. I have a couple of events other than our reception, and I'm reusing some of my DIY elements (silk flowers, etc.) to add a bit of decor to those, but definitely not bringing in any vendors. One cool thing I saw a bride do when I went for a site visit was bring these floating lanterns for the pool.

Hello ladies, my wedding is in October 2017. Does anyone have any information on hair and makeup options? At my site visit I met with styling trio but they are $439 for only hair and makeup on wedding day for bride only which seems very high. Did anyone use anyone else? Thank you!

@@Kristilu I am getting married December 20 and am using the salon from the hotel. I will let you know how it goes. I think it was like roughly $200 for hair and airbrush makeup for them to come into my room and do it.

How did it go using the resort salon?
