Beach Palace Cancun Brides

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies,

i wonder if you can help. I have trawled through previous posts to see if this has already been discussed but can't seem to find anything- sorry if it has and i've missed it!

We are from the UK and have chosen to get married at Beach Palace as we love the hotel and more importantly love that you can get married on the Sky Terrace away from other guests - we visited Cancun last year and didnt like the idea of other guests watching the ceremony in their swimwear!

My question is, are there any other brides who have travelled from the UK to get married at Beach Palace and how was your experience? Did you go via a Travel Agent or arrange the holiday and wedding seperately?

Also to all brides, how far in advance would you suggest i need to reserve our date at Beach Palace to ensure i can get the Sky Terrace? We are planning to get married in May 2016, is it too premature to get in contact now?

If any brides have any electronic copies of documents/info they would be willing to send to me it would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance

Hi ShellLen,

I am a UK bride and we are getting married 90 days today at the BP! How exciting.

From experience, you can't book the venue more than a year in advance (we signed our contract a year to the day) and you can't guarantee any in resort venues until about 3 months before (we only got the sky terrace confirmed this week - I had the exact same fear as you with swimsuit crowds!).

We booked through a weddings abroad website but TBH they have been zero help. We found the guest rates cheaper elsewhere (by a couple hundred pounds pp) but they refused to match the price. So all of our guests have booked separately. We have 36 adults and 3 children coming so fingers crossed it'll be a great party!

If I can be any help, give me a shout

Xx

Hi ShellLen!

My wedding is booked for May of 2015. I booked, paid the deposit, and signed the contract a few months ago. I believe that you can reserve a wedding date as far in advance as you would like. HOWEVER, they will not confirm the specific location until closer to you'r wedding date. I have my heart set on the beach for the ceremony and sky terrace for the reception. The wedding planner told me that she put these requests in for me but will not confirm them at this date. I think they do all official location confirmation last minute, depending the wedding size, so that they can accommodate as many weddings as possible each day. After signing the contract, my wedding planner has been less than responsive to my attempts to contact her for more information. From reading these forums, It seems that all of the detail planning occurs much closer to the wedding date. Good luck with your planning!

My travel agent was able to press the issue and get them to confirm the Skyterrace for ceremony and skydeck for reception when I booked in march last year!  I paid a $200 deposit for the complimentary package to secure the date and location.  The deposit just gets deducted from my final total bil at the end of the wedding.

Definitely worth it to not be worried about the location all year :)

So we got back from our site visit last night. A lot of things were cleared up for us and of course I realized on our flight home that I had more questions that I just couldnt think of at the time.

My overall takeaway is about a 3 out of 5.  I'm sure the wedding will be beautiful and great but if I had been here before I booked, then I wouldn't have chosen this property. I don't do huge, giant resorts (like Moon Palace) but I am used to things being a little more spread out than they are here. Everything seems very cramped and everything is right on top of the other. The rooms are better than most of the resorts I've been to, they are pretty large and good sized. The fridge is fully stocked with heineken, coors light, dos equis, fruit juices, coke AND pepsi, tonic, water. Plus there is a bottle of red wine and a fifth of vodka, rum, scotch, and tequila for you.  There is a lovely bed out on the balcony that we spent plenty of time relaxing on. Every room has a jacuzzi tub (we didn't use ours), upgraded hair products (CHI brand straightener and hair dryer). The bathroom counter is very low.  It barely hit above my knees. So once again, rooms were great.  It's the actual property that wasn't what I was expecting.

When we arrived we were greeted with a hot towel, a welcome drink and a flower for me. So far so good, but the resort is in a very desirable spot in the hotel zone and everything is just stacked together. The restaurants are very small, Wok, the asian restaurant has 16 tables, the steakhouse is even smaller than that. The pool area is your typical resort pool. People come down in the morning, get their lounge chairs and then return 6 hours later. Every resort has signs posted not to do it but it always happens so no getting around that.  I could honestly write a book about the few days we were there and I'm trying not to make this too long but oh I just can't help it.

Okay onto the important stuff: We met with Rebecca who will more than likely be our wedding planner although we won't know for sure until 1 month prior to the wedding. There is another beach wedding going on the same day as us, so she put in to reserve the other side of the beach for us (the beach is tiny also). So far she has the sky terrace blocked for our reception but she made it very clear that depending on events that they reserve the right to move us to wherever they want to put us although it happens very rarely. She told us she once had a wedding reception scheduled for the Sky Terrace but there was another event (i.e. larger and worth more $$) and the wedding reception got moved to the ballroom. We are expecting 30-40 guests. I was concerned at the size of the sky terrace but she said it can hold 100+ guests easily . The cocktail hour will be on the sky terrace (the beach side) with the reception on the lagoon side.

I don't care for the Colin Cowie collections and $2000+ dollars just for the 15 minute ceremony seems outrageous, so we met with Zuniga decor a.k.a. Deco Cancun and went over our ideas with her. We definitely want the lounge seating and she said she'd send us a proposal for it and we'd go from there. Rebecca said we could bring our own decorations also. She said if there were just a few things then they'd be happy to set it up for us or we could do it ourselves. I've heard previous brides say they were told they'd be charged, or that we couldnt set up anything ourselves bc of a liability if we're hurt, but she said that wasn't the case at all.

For photography we met with Cecilia Dumas and Ocean Photo. Ocean Photo will use $300 of your resort credit if you book with them, making your out of pocket cost cheaper, but the price list they gave us was different from the one we originally received from Palace Resorts. The package we originally wanted was $1499, but in the meeting it was listed as $1999. No bueno.

We also met with Alex from JSAV and he was so nice! He said right away that he wasn't there to pressure us into something we didn't want or need and if all we wanted was an ipod setup that was fine with him, and that he's willing to negotiate on the prices also. Really really nice guy :)

Hi All, just noticed there was a few people who were asking for my site visit photos from December in my message box (Sorry I have been out of town for work and just recently back with some time to get these uploaded :))
I got photos of the skyterrace, sky deck reception area, pool area, back up location inside and rooms

Hi Ladies...

Question for you all (past brides, and those still planning).. Do you think it is necessary to hire outside vendors (flowers, DJ, decor, Etc.)? What package did you choose through the resort? I chose the Pure package and paid my deposit before realizing that I would also want to hire outside vendors rather than use the things provided by the resort. I now regret paying a 2,500 down payment for flowers and decor that I won't even be using! Has anyone else chosen not to hire outside vendors? Any thoughts or advice from anyone would be helpful =)

Thank you!

Hi everyone!

I am about 10 weeks away and I thought I would post a summary of what I have planned so far for anyone interested:

-Wedding Day:  Saturday, May 10, 2014

-Guest Count: 30 (About 105 room nights)

-Symbolic Ceremony + Complimentary package

Welcome Dinner:

-Infinity Terrace the first night we arrive (7:00pm-10:00pm).

-I have rented two strings of paper lanterns from Zuniga for lighting and just going to have an ipod speaker for music. I chose an Imperial table setup (one long table) with the complimentary standard linens. Dinner will be buffet (not sure about menu choice yet).  I am bringing a bunch of electric candles from home to place down the table (Will be using these for reception as well…$50+ centerpiece rentals is ridiculous! No thanks! lol).  Planning to hand out OOT bags and play an icebreaker game that I created after dinner.
I ordered customized shot glasses to put on each persons plate for the icebreaker game (It has some bride/groom trivia plus some cards say “Take a shot” etc, so will be pretty fun)

Wedding Day! (Ceremony @ 4:00pm)

-Hair & makeup:  Beach Palace Salon @ 12:00pm (Plan to use resort credits for this)

-Flowers:  Maya Floral (Marvin) …$425 for bridal bouquet, 2 bridesmaids, 3 boutonnieres & cake flowers.  Dropping off flowers in lobby to avoid vendor fee.

-Zuniga:   Pink lights under tables, Lounge Palms, Candle Steps, Paper lantern strings, floating candles for pool, piñata, Lounge seating area and low lounge table. (About $1500)

-JSAV:  Robotic light trees for dance area, Gobo, Lighting for lounge palms, ipod music setup and 1 speaker and microphone. ($1000)

-Centerpieces:  Bringing electric candles from home (keep it very simple with soft/glowy light)

-Photography:  Del Sol Photography (Juan).  5 Hour package (3:00pm arrival)

-Ceremony:  4:00pm skyterrace.  Complimentary set up.  I ordered paper fans to put on each seat and am just using the provided CD/ipod music for the ceremony. Keeping the ceremony super simple and keeping it short.  (We just want to party! J)

-Cocktail Hour: 5:00pm South Skyterrace Ocean side.  Standard décor.  Appetizers:  Cold Hors D’oeuvres Menu.  Ordered customized napkins and coasters in my wedding colours for the tables.

-Reception: 6:00pm (Extended until 10:00 hopefully 11:00 or later!)

-Dinner buffet: Cajun Menu

-Standard complimentary table décor.  1 sweetheart table, 2 tables of 8, 1 table of 10.

-Ordered:  disposable cameras for the tables, starfish tealight candle favors to put on each plate, seating place cards have a little  metal starfish charm attached and the placecard table will be decorated with the complimentary bridal bouquet flowers that I am not using during the ceremony since I ordered from Maya Floral.  I also ordered a piñata from Zuniga which I have to bring candy for so that should be a fun addition to the night!

Ok well I think that is all I have for now.  If anyone has any planning questions I would be happy to help J

Good luck with your plans!!

-Amanda
