No one has booked! :(

Oh Ladies!!!

I think we all feel this pain.  I thought I had come to terms with it, but no, I have not!  "Friends" tell me they can't go but will still do their yearly vacations they do every year.  I have a friend that I originally was ok with her not coming and now she is planning a trip to Chile.  Another said she can't go, but is going to FL the same time as my wedding!  Kind of a smack in the face-"your wedding isn't important enough for me to go to or save for"  That's actually how I feel about all my "friends".  This process has made me realize just how few friends I really have.

And to top it off, I had another friend tell me I shouldn't do my bach. party in the mountains (an 1 1/2 away) as no one will go and that I should consider doing it in Denver.  Why, I ask?   I would consider that option if even 1 friend was going to my wedding.  But they are not and I am not into clubbing downtown anymore. So..... why do something you want to do over what I want to do????wtf.gif  I have been in 10 weddings and NOT ONCE ever told the bride to be what she could and couldn't do for her bach. party.!  So rude!   fryingpan.gif

I really don't know why people think they are entitled to even ONE opinion when it comes to your wedding, especially if they aren't coming!  Keep the opinions to yourself, I say!  Thank you very much!!!!   stfu.gif

AAAHHH!  Thanks, obviously needed to vent very badly!!!

On a brighter note, at least my immediate family is going to be there!  They like me!  HAHAHAHA!

Big hugs ladies!!!  Hang in there!!!!

I am sooooo on board with you ladies.  It was initially supposed to be just my hubby and I but soooo many ppl kept saying they wanted to join us, soooo I contacted a travel agent, made arrangements and a small down payment (that goes toward my travel at the end)  and set up payment arrangements for my many friends and family.  Only my immediate family has booked.  None of my hubby's family and none of my friends.  My thing is...I cannot move forward with OOT bags or anything else, if I do not know how many ppl will be in attendance. 1st payment was due in November, 2nd is due in February.  I guess we will see if more ppl pay but this can def be frustrating.  I'm trying to keep saying, its all about hubby and I but I know 30 ppl will book in June and then I will only have 2 months to starts finalizing my plans.  I was considering doing 25 of everything and that's that! UGH!

I know what you guys are feeling. You  want to know NOW who is coming etc. etc.

My wedding is in June and i haven't sent out my formal invites yet. STD was sent in Dec of 2011, so people know about the wedding.

I really don't think people will book until March-April of this year. I do not expect people to respond immediately to RSVP (except people who have already told my FI and I that they have other things going on that weekend).

I am the biggest procrastinator I know, but for a wedding I think I would be PUMPED to have an excuse to jetset anywhere.

This all depends on your guests personalities I guess. Don't stress, anyone who is supposed to be there, will be. I am going to try and not to hold it against my friends that do not come, but it's going to show who my true friends are!

I have a friend (big sister in my sorority) who lives in SINGAPORE, and she is 99% sure she will make it.

I guess I'm lucky that I have a ton of OCD friends who are super-planners.

We should have a good idea of how many are going to our Nov 2012 wedding by Jan 25th. So far we have 2 people (other than us!) booked, and we really only sent the info out late last week (we had to do electronic STDs/phone calls).

At least we'll know the approximate # early enough to plan the other events around the wedding. That's my silver lining right now.

Good luck to all of you getting those procrastinators off the fence!

Ok.. I need some serious advice!!!!!!!!! Ive been recieving feedback from guest about the Royal/Gran Caribe being too expensive and they rather stay at ____ hotel instead since its more inexpensive, or been there before. So im making my guest stay at 1 of the 2 real resorts  for various reasons. Now i have looked up the packages for these "inexpesive resorts' and i find that A) All the packages in Cancun are similar in price, not a huge differrence, B) some of these resorts poeple want to stay at is either the same price or maybe $50 cheaper.. this is crazy!!!! why are people doing this to me???? !! I was about to chage the rules and allow guest to stay wherever and just pay the double for them to come to the wedding but now looking at what i found.. why should i ??!!!! any advice?? My immediate fam are all staying at the resort..

Well....Labebita911....That is a tough one.  Chances are the resort you are havign your weding at will charge people that are not staying at the resort a fee (could be $50+) to attend the wedding.  This is usually the case when it comes to AI resorts.  Although DW are relatively inexpensive, it is a major headache.  My fiance and I lost our initial deposit because we were going to have our wedding in St. Thomas.  Although we are paying for the wedding ourselves, I discussed with my Mom....prior to booking.  Well.....My darling Mom....waits until the first STD went out (with tentative pricing) and then decided it was too expensive.  We had also left a room block deposit of which we were able to get back.  Once we took a step back and realized that St. Thomas while beautiful was not AI and very expensive.  We went back to the drawing board and are now within 6 months of our wedding in Mexico.

I would find out from the resort....if they charge a fee for guests to attend the wedding & reception.  I would advise my guest of this additional fee and I would NOT under ANY circumstances offer to pay it.

As many of us have said (and already know)...the day is for us and our Future Hubbies.  Its so hard not to get aggravated though....

Just concentrate on the two of you.  We are sending our invitations our tomorrow (has all of the travel agent info)....after that....I am done...

I will not debate pricing or anything of the sort.  As much as I want people to be there, I look at it this way...the less people...the more intimate...the less money we will spend....

Good Luck Girlie!

I'm just starting the planning process - and I can just see myself having these same problems. I'm going to prepare myself now (ya right!) and just try to accept that I can't control people booking, etc. I'm hoping my TA can keep people on track, but we will see!

I think the biggest stress would be to not know the numbers ahead of time so that you can budget, and prepare OOT bags, etc.

Frustrating stuff, ladies! Hang in there!
