I bought 17 yards of polyester satin fabric for the hammock site.  I left it there for others to use.  I'm sure they have ones you could rent, but I'm not sure of the color choices.

For the ala carte, I was asked to pick one main entree in the "Wedding Wishes" list.  However, if you have less than 15 guests like I did, they allow everyone to order off the menu.

Hi everyone,

We're getting married at the Gran Bahia Sian Ka'an on April 6, 2015.  I've been corresponding with the coordinator, Linda but her replies are super slow because she's busy.

We're thinking of holding the reception at the Alux restaurant since it looks like it has the best menu.  Has anyone held their reception here before?  If so, would you recommend it?

We also want to have a cocktail hour outside the Alux near the pool area.  Does anyone know whether this can be accomodated?

Also, has anyone opted for the 'free' wedding option.  I was thinking that we could just choose that and do a bunch of add ons.

Thanks in advance everyone!

Jessica

@@Dreamteam17 I know it was forever ago we talked about the changes in wedding package prices but I just heard from my travel agent. The resort is honouring the original price they sent me of $1240 for the unforgettable package!!! I am so relieved! Thank God for my travel agent

@@Dreamteam17 - regarding your question on the DJ...  When we got to the reception he asked us what 'type' of music we liked.  He offered a few genre suggestions and one of them was 'party music'.  We said "yes, party music!"  But that turned out to be a whole lot of 'celebrate good times' and other oldies.  My husband nixed that pretty quickly and gave him our ipod to play a few songs, and that got everyone out on the dance floor.  From there he seemed to get the hang of what we were after, and played much better music the rest of the night.  He also had lights, and the atmosphere was really fun.  I think a DJ is worth the cost for a couple of hours (we did 3), but would just recommend bringing a list of songs or the types of songs you want to hear so he knows what you're after from the start!

Hi Ladies!

Iv booked Akumal from May 07 -17 2015 with the wedding date being May 14th

Iv chosen akumal beach however i really don't want to be on the gazebo. Are there any other beach options?

Definitely having a private poolside or beach reception as we have 50 guests from Canada and Australia attending.

Any other brides around the same time?

So many pages to read!!

Hi!!

Our wedding date is May 15, 2015 so we will be there right at the same time. We just have about 20 guests and will also be having the ceremony at the Akumal beach. I have been looking into flying a photographer down instead of using the one at the resort. I had emailed Trisha about possibly coming for my wedding and was wondering if you're interested in looking into splitting the photographer cost. Let me know your thoughts :)
