Thanks for that. We are getting married off the resort but are staying at the hotel and I have been reading reviews on how the makeup/hair isn't that great. It's good to hear from a recent bride that that is the case as I am leaning now towards getting my hair done off site.

Congratulations on your wedding!  I'm glad to hear it went so well!

I think it depends.  I just returned and as far as I know, my bride and her three bridesmaids were very pleased.  Their hair turned out fantastic, as did their makeup.  It looked just like the pictures they provided and lasted all day and all night.

Hi Trisha - you're certainly a fountain of knowledge when it comes to this resort!  I've found a number of your posts to be quite helpful and you've taken lovely photos of the resort - so thank you!

I've looked at a couple of the resort maps but am having trouble locating where the Tulum gazebo is.  I'm getting married there but staying at Akumal, so I'm trying to get my barrings and sort out where the best place would be to request for a restaurant & reception so we don't have people trying to get to all corners of this massive resort in one day.

Could you tell me where to look?  I've got the map that is posted on resortmaps.com but I find it's a bit blurry and I don't see anything labeled as the gazebo.

Thanks in advance!

No problem Jessica!

Here is a map.  I have circled the Akumal section on the left and then on the right is the wedding locations.  That's where the Gazebo and the Tulum beach location are located.  Just outside the Tequila restaurant.

You should have a good amount of time between your ceremony and your reception, however, and the wedding coordinator should provide transportation for your guests.  So you may want to stick with Akumal for dinner and dancing.  That way people are close to their rooms at the end of the night or if they need to switch outfits because of sweating or something.

Dreamteam17 you are getting married the day before me!!  I am still trying to decide whether to go for the Tulum or Akumal area for the ceremony! I had my heart set on a beach wedding but the Gazebo looks lovely too!.  I still have to do a lot of research on dinner options and look into the poolside ceremony.

Trisha you are fantastic and have helped me out massively!!

As I really like the idea of the beach ceremony, can anybody recommend the best spot out of Tulum and Akumal??

Thanks

Actually, there is this new area that I fell in LOVE with and I'd ask about...  It's just north of the Tulum Gazebo

@TIseege thank you for that! So this a area is not far from the Tulum accommodation?

I love the fact that it looks a little bit more secluded here. I will def be enquiring about this area.

Sorry 1 last question - which restaurant would you recommend for roughly 30 or less guests that has a good view of the beach/ocean? And we can possibly have a private area to ourselves?

Thank you again for the reply!

It's in the Tulum section, but further north than the Gazebo... so kind of in between the main lobby and Tequila restaurant?

Only restaurant with a real view of the beach would be arlequin... but then at dinner time it gets dark out and you can't see anything anyways :)

@@LeeanneMUA that is great news! Finally a 2015 bride. This site is absolutely amazing I have read so much. And tlseege you are full of great information !!!

I emailed Maria about ceremony location and dinner and reception but haven't heard anything it's been a few weeks. I know everyone said they don't take you seriously till 3 months before but I thought it was worth a shot. Would feel better if those 3 important aspects were decided on. So I am trying to sit tight and wait !

We are doing the beach ceremony hopefully and would like to eat at the Portofino restaurant and have pool side reception.

I am just trying to decide on some personal things I can bring to make it more personal to us.

Does anyone know the decorations they provide and what colours to choose from? And what would be a good idea to bring myself ?

Thank you

DT

Sounds lovely Dreamteam17!! I need to start thinking on what I need maybe take with me too!

Bit concerned about the hair/makeup to be honest (not heard good reports).. I am a makeup artist and there is always the option of me doing it myself but would like to relax on the day!

I think I will enquire about getting some creative's from outside the resort to assist us as I see this is possible??

Happy planning and you never know I may see you there!!

x
