OFFICIAL Gran Bahia Principe Riviera Maya Thread

Hi Ladies Just a heads up I have emailed the coordinator there and she is stating that they do not allow outside hair and makeup... I haven't heard good things about the resort spa for bridal hair and makeup..,
Thanks for your tip :), however,I recommend that couples ask their own WC about this. I had heard the same thing on here awhile ago and sent a worried email to my WC. Paloma responded by saying not to worry, that they DO allow outside hair and makeup vendors.

Gratuities are not included. I tipped the photographer, each bartender (2) and the DJ each $50. I gave the wedding coordinator $60. I had no idea what to do either so I still don't know if this was way off or not.

The DJ cost was $683 or some odd number. My total poolside reception price was $2600 for 53 people. That included the DJ, 2 bartenders just for us (the service they gave myself and my husband especially was phenomenal, hunting us down and always making sure our glasses were never empty without ever having to ask for anything), lights, seating and basic decoration.

Hi All,

I'm new here, been lurking for a bit here :)

Is anyone else having trouble loading the information on the first page? It stops right after the mayan blessing post and everytime I try to click on the posts at the begining of page 1, it takes me back to page 1. I'm getting super frusturated as It has worked before in the past and now that I need it, it's not.

Do any past Canadian brides have any feedback on how you paid for everything?

I know you pay for everything at the end, but we are trying to decide on whether to pay by credit card or to bring down cash. Taking $3k + cash down to Mexico (esp leaving it in our room safe for en entire week) makes me nervous, but Eugenia has told us that the exchange rate the hotel gives us if we pay by credit card in Pesos is not the greatest and is better if we pay in cash. This makes sense if we were coming from the US and all our currency was in USD already, but coming from Canada we have to exchange either way.

Any thoughts...  :)

I forget Trisha, are you from the US or Canada? Cause Eugenia said they charge us in USD for cash or they convert the US to pesos if you use credit card. So I'm just wondering if it would be cheaper to pay by card and just have it charged in pesos rather than having to exchange into US which is a poorer conversion for canadians at the banks (ie. I get less than a dollar US for every dollar CAN I exchange, whereas I get ~ 12peso for every CAD)... If that makes any sense lol!

Hi,

My fiance and I are arranging to get married in Akumal on the 7th May 2014 with the sunshine symbolic ceremony package. It will be just us then we will be having a reception with all our family when we return to the UK.

I was wondering if anyone else has any experience getting married here without having guests?

Also is there any option to pay for the wedding in advance or do you have to pay when you leave?

And do you get a chance to view the photos included in the package and how soon do you get them?

Thank you
