Hey! My understanding is that the speakers only cost $70/hour but the DJ costs $210/hour. They may cut some costs if you just have the speakers and not the DJ? Just a thought, I'm still contemplating this option as well.

 

Yes you're right it is only $70 but I have them for 3 hours so $210! haha

Has anyone eaten at the Mediterrano restaurant?  

We are staying in Coba and it was one of our options along with Pescado and Oasis for our rehearsal dinner.

 

@@emigrayson I believe @@TATrisha brought her own fabric?  Other than that I can't see where else you can trim.  We're asking fi we can pay in pesos because the dollar is so awful.  I haven't had a reply yet but that will definitely help if you can.

I will for sure post about the pesos when I get a straight answers.  So far I think it's fine but I'm trying to get more detail.

Hi there, I'm getting married July 2016 at the Tulum side and have just started to look at the paperwork and wedding wishes document (I know...I'm not especially organised!). Last year on holiday there I saw a wedding/gathering a little out of the way by the pool and it looked really secluded and fab. I'm looking at my wedding wishes pack and would love at some point to have canapés and cocktails, just not quite sure of the order to do it all in, do you get married, then canapés then dinner or married, dinner then canapés? We're asked for the ceremony to be between 3-4pm.

 

Also for a poolside drinks hour could I request this location for the canapé hour and just pay canapé and cocktails prices per head? Or would I have to pay the 'privatisation' fee to be poolside plus the price per head for cocktails & canapés?

Hi Gemma!

Typically it'd be 4pm ceremony

5-6pm Cocktail hour with canapes and cocktails

6pm-8pm Dinner

8pm-11pm Reception with dancing

 

In the past, we haven't had to pay the privatization fee for the pool area, but they change their rules quite often.  Hopefully you wouldn't have to.  

I will say that typically cocktail hour is held at one of the bars on property.  You will most likely be taking pictures so it'll be your guests enjoying a cocktail before dinner.  And then the reception and dancing is held by the pool with a DJ.

Hi everyone!

 

We have just over 3 months to go, and we're looking to finalize our wedding plans soon! I'm not sure about what to do for the dinner/reception, so I'm hoping to get some advice.

 

We have the Unforgettable package, and originally we were thinking of doing the poolside dinner/reception. However, since the CAD - USD exchange rate is so terrible right now, we're debating whether or not to change the plans since it would be so much more expensive now.

 

I remember when we were there 2 years ago, there were a couple of restaurants that had outdoor seating portions to them (in a white tent that was open to the outside). Does anyone know the name of those restaurants (we're staying at Tulum, so it would have to be either Tulum or Coba) and whether or not those are able to be privatized for the dinner?

If so, I'm wondering if a dinner in there and then poolside reception would be okay?

 

Also, how does the menu work for privatizing a restaurant? What are the choices to pick from and how many choices do you get?

 

Sorry for all of the questions, I'm just unsure of what to do at this point!

@@amanda88 The tented restaurants tend to change, but in Tulum I've seen them at Gran Tortuga and Tequila.  

 

I have also photographed multiple weddings where we did the dinner inside and then the poolside reception for dancing.  It worked out beautifully and was definitely cheaper.  

Also, none of my brides privatized their restaurant and it was still perfect.  Your group will typically have the restaurant to yourselves for the first 30-60 minutes, and the staff will seat everyone else further away from you.  It's never been a problem for my brides.

Do you know how picking the menu works if we were to have it in a restaurant? We need to make sure there is a vegetarian option available as well as a meat dish. If we do the dinner inside, will they allow us to arrange it so that there is still a head table for the bridal party?

 

For the brides that didn't privatize the restaurant, I'm assuming they just waited to do speeches/dances until after dinner when they were outdoors for the reception?

I just don't want to be disappointed by the poolside dinner/reception, as it is a fair bit of money, but we are willing to spend it if it is worth it.
