Wait... privatize the DANCING part or the DINNER?!?  There has always been a large fee if you want the diner private.  Otherwise other guests come into the restaurant.  So that's nothing new.

Nope, that's for the dancing part. The dinner is like $1500 to privatize the restaurant, that fee is to privatize the reception.

Anyone know how to go about paying in pesos?  If the exchange rate doesn't change that will most likely be the best option.

 

Would love if some ladies who have been married here recently or for those with their date coming up soon to come back and give us some feedback.  Would really appreciate it!  As you know how hard it is to get an answer from the resort sometimes.

 

Also wondering, sorry if this was mentioned before -  the packages include "basic" decoration... what does this include exactly?

Can anyone give me their opinion on my food choices?

 

I narrowed it down to 4 menus and asked our families to rank them. This eliminated two of them (damn, I had high hopes for the pork medallions with carmelized apple and goat cheese!) and left us with the top two choices to choose between. 

 

Menu 1 - Portofino

Starter - Appetizer buffet

Main Course - Florentina Pork Fillet (Pork chop filled with sautéed spinach and bell peppers,

with mashed potatoes and capers)

Dessert - Dessert Buffet and Seasonal Fruit

 

The upside of this menu is that the buffet lets people choose their own apps and desserts, so I don't have to worry about finding something with mass appeal. Also, Portofino is near the Jacuzzi pool, where we want to have our reception. It was the second choice of most of our family members, and the one who rated it last said it was because they would be eating buffet all week and wanted a plated meal.

 

Menu 2 - Le Gourmet

Starter - Gourmet Salad (tender lettuce, palm hearts, artichokes, asparagus, sweet tomato,

sprouts, flowers and red fruit vinaigrette)

Main - Filet Mignon with Roquefort cheese, mushrooms and chardonnay sauce

Dessert - Passionfruit parfait with mango sauce

 

This menu was the top choice for most of the family, but one person doesn't eat red meat and one other one is allergic to Mangoes (They also had a meringue with strawberry ice cream flambe option for dessert, I just thought the fruit parfait would be a lighter choice after a heavy main course). Also, I have no idea where Le Gourmet is located, so I don't know how far it is from the Jacuzzi pool.

I have had both meals and they are both fabulous!!  I personally liked Le Gourmet better.

 

Portofino is definitely closer to the jacuzzi pools though.

Quick question:

 

We have two kids coming, I think they are 9 and 11. Do they HAVE to have a kids meal, or can they have the adult meal instead if they want? An 11 year old may prefer a steak to chicken fingers or spaghetti.

I'm guessing they can have the steak for the cost everyone else is paying! If they are free as kids I doubt they can have the upgrade for free.

I have been thinking about guest favours lately... What are good destination wedding favours? I was thinking of making welcome bags but this can get pricey. Has anyone made them before? How can I do this in a cost effective way?

We did welcome bags and they were super cute, but yes, costly.  In the end, I'd probably do cinch sack bags with custom drink mugs in them.  Those were the two things that got the most use and were the most fun to see wandering the resort!

We had 80 + people come so couldnt afford to do welcome bags...but we got personalized maracas, and personalized sunglasses (which was awesome as then u could see who was with you group on the resort and was a great ice breaker for guests who didnt know eachother) and also, it was great for a group photo after
