Wedding Cakes in the DR??

Hey ladies!! Just curious if anyone has used an outside bakery for their cakes & what prices they have gotten?? I'm getting married at Dreams La Romana, and they include a cake for 20 with our package (but we have 370 invited, and are expecting between 125 - 200) and after that the resort charges $30 per POUND of cake...which sounds crazy! (Although I've never shopped for a wedding cake so what do I know lol.)

Funny, great...but is that normal lol?? I feel like a pound of cake really isn't that much at all, is it?

My cousin's gf is a cake decorator. I'm hoping our resort will let her in the kitchen to decorate our cake the way we'd like it.
