Getting married in November!

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies,

I am getting married in November at The Grand Palladium and am a little confused.  We are planning on a private reception till 1am and I have mentioned that to my wedding coordinator but nothing is being said? Is that normal? They haven't given me choices for the menu or asked me anything other then the ceremony time (4pm).  I'm starting to get a little stressed as the date is quickly approaching! Do they give you a choice of where to have the reception? Or how did anyone find a D.J. or steel drum band? Does the hotel have one? What about a late snack? Did anyone have that option.  I don't even know what time dinner is served??  I had Simone as a WC but now have someone else that doesn't really answer my questions.  If anyone has been through this please let me know what I am supposed to be doing.  I know the bouquets come with the package but I want certain flowers.  I have tried to contact Tia Floral but haven;t received a response.  Also the spa?? I heard there is a spa conceriege  but have no idea how to contact him.  I wanted to spend the day at the spa with the bridesmaids and moms, but not sure if that is possible.  Any advice or tips would be soooo greatly appreciated!

Hi there,

Is your Wedding Coordinator part of The Grand Palladium? If not than you could call the meeting coordination office and see if you could talk to one of they representative. Ask them about the reception location, menu items, late snack, when dinner is serve, spa concierge phone number/email and bouquet flower. Who they would recommend for DJ and band.

Is your Wedding Coordinator working other event beside yours and is it a full service package or limited package? Because that could be a reason why itâ€s taking them a while to get back to you. Sometime a WC would work on two event at a time, but would have an assistant to help them out. A full service package they do everything from start to finish and limited is usually give you advice which sometime you have to take action to call the people and set things up.

I use this site to help bride find contact information for Jamaica Wedding, http://www.jamaicaweddingguide.com/MusicEntertainment.html

I hope these information help and good luck planning your wedding.

Hi Raggae dancin!

I am getting married in November also and we are staying at the Palladium, but getting married off site.  First thing....I know it's frustrating, but unfortantely this kind of neglect, ( I call it) is common from these big resorts.  And based on some things I read on trip advisor...common to the Palladium.  Wedding planners quit or move jobs and the plans you had made are in the air suddenly.  However, you seem to have a lot of details are up in the air.  So, it's time to get a little more aggressive and be sure you are covering your butt. If you can't get the wedding planners to respond to you, I have a contact that has been responding to me, in sales/catering - I can pass it along to you.  Can you set your email to notify you when an email you sent to the WC has been opened?  Would be interesting to know if they are being read and ignored, or not being read at all. Also, I would call the resort........speak to someone directly to connect you to a WC.  Ask firmly, but polietly not to be put on hold long, as you are calling long distance.  If you look up the resort on Trip advisor, there is a manager.....Dimitri, that often responds to negative reviews.  He seems to think very highly of his staff and likes to indirectly blame the customer when they complain, if you could get his email, and complain to him that you can't get anyone to help you, you might see some action.  Go the the Corporate Palladium site and get some corpoarte email addresses and copy them into your email's too, maybe that will shake the tree.

If I were you, I would keep every email you send and receive from this point forward (hopefully you have the ones from the previous WC?) and print off all correspondence before you leave home, as verification of some of your details.  A lot of smaller details are worked out in emails, outside of a contract, so, just in case this might be handy to have.  If you let them know you are organized and mean business and can proove the details that were arranged...well, it can't hurt.

Thanks for all your great ideas Charlotte10, I have just been put with yet another WC So i'll just be thankful if I leave Jamaica legally married haha.  I am calling the resort tomorrow to speak to a guest relations person just to express my concerns from other reviews I have read and my own experiences so far.  If I could have my time back I would have picked an off site ceremony.  For the amount you pay the hotel its probably cheaper to get a wedding planner to arrange it for you.    Are you having a reception or rehersal dinner at the GPL?

We are heading down there november 17... how about you guys?
