Remember, you can bring your own decorations. I would not rely on the resort to make your DW look the way you want.

 

I brought shells and plates and candles and vases for our centerpieces ... set one up w/ sand in our room to show the WC, and then they made sure each centerpiece looked perfect. Then, we packed up the shells, plates, candles, vases, etc and took it home to use for our AHR.

 

It will also likely be cheaper to bring fabric for chair sahses. They overcharge for EVERYTHING ... so a little pre-planning will go a long way.

I am getting married at PPR on July 23, 2009 and I can tell you that Viviana is most definitely NOT there anymore. I had a 3 hour "power planning session" with Teresa Calcos from the Romance Department on Saturday. She came down from Canada and works for Paradisus, but usually handles events for more than 100 people. I can tell you she was amazing and you really have nothing to worry about. I was flipping out because I am 6 1/2 weeks away and nothing was planned, and she really put me at ease. We got everything done on that call and she offered tons of great suggestions. All I can tell you is I am usually a total stressball and worrier and I'm totally at ease now.

I just got a email from Teresa (head of the romance dept for all paradisus resorts) and she said the same thing that Viloet said, Viviana is definitely no longer working there. If you did get a call/email from Viviana make sure she was not working with another hotel (that she didn't take her address book with her when she left) and trying to get you to go there.

WHAT!!!! I am so confused and stressing! I am getting married in less than three weeks and have not heard ANYTHING from another planner there. Now I am concerned....

Amma! I know exactly who you are (that sounds weird now that I type that...) Vivian Ross had showed me your website like, 9 months ago that she made for you and your guests Anyway try emailing Teresa at [email protected]. I would say put your wedding date in the subject line and write something to make her realize the urgency - desperate times call for desperate measures. Her number there is (519) 573 4562. If you cannot get in touch with her, try getting in touch with a woman named Maria Victoria, who is Teresa's boss and is also at PPR.

Hi All

 

Just a tip (if calling from the US), if you call the Sol Melia (Paradisus' Parent company) Miami office (305) 350-3828 and I belive hit option 4 (that's the group sales dept) you will normally get a live person. They are helpful and friendly and just ask them to connect you to the PPR Romance department and they will be happy to (I've at least never had any problems). This way you don't have to pay the ridiculous international fees.

Hi Girls,

So I recently heard that the Melia Caribe changed their photography package and if you bring a photographer on site with you, you have to pay a fee somewhere in the range of $1000. I am a PPR bride but as the PPR is owned by the Sol Melia I was concerned this rule might apply.

 

I emailed Viviana a few months ago to check on this and she confirmed that at the PPR this was not the case, there is no fee for photography unless you have to pay their day pass if they are staying off site.

 

Now that Viviana is gone I have been trying to get an email confirmation from the new coordinator just to confirm again.

 

I was just wondering if anyone else heard about this new policy at the PPR and what your thoughts are.

Lindsay - I spoke with the interim coordinator at PPR (Teresa Calcos) and she confirmed that for my off-site DJ and photographer, it is just a day pass charge of $120. I remember there was a big issue a few months ago with Melia brides not being allowed to bring outside vendors onto the property, but I think after all was said and done they ended up just paying a small fee as well. The advice I've heard from other people though is to definitely bring all your e-mails to PPR when you get married. Hope this helps!
