Thanks! they are pretty easy to make- I just bought raffia and used a folding chair to get an idea of how long I wanted them to be- I cut 12-15 pieces of raffia for each one (can't remember exact number- but I can count them to make sure) folded it to make the loop and the tied a piece of ribbon to keep the loop.  Then I put a cotton ball in the starfish (otherwise the inside is hollow) then I superglued a piece of heavy cardstock (cardboard would work too) to the cardstock and then attached another piece of ribbon over it and then hot glued the raffia to the starfish and volia! :) I can PM you pics of close-ups if you don't understand my instructions.  The raffia curls naturally and was very curly and pretty until I had to pack them in my suitcase and then the flattened out on their journey to Mexico- but they still looked good! :) It's way cheaper to make these yourself than to buy them FYI! I have tons of leftover raffia that I can sell if you need yellow, orange or tan raffia! :)

I'd also like to see close ups!  Where did you get the starfish?  My colors are magenta and navy, so I'd probably use navy or a natural tan color raffia.  Thanks for the explanation!!!  How did they hold up in the wind?

I bought the starfish on ebay- I had to buy a dozen- and I did the give your best offer option and I got them for $28! :)  http://www.ebay.com/itm/12-Extra-Large-Sugar-Starfish-8-10-Beach-Cottage-/330803727109?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d05704b05  You want to make sure you buy this size.

I only made 6 of the decorations but it was fine- I had extra starfish to decorate other things and a few of the starfish were "weird" looking so I didn't want to use them anyways!  Just make sure when you pack them they are wrapped in bubble wrap and you will be fine- none of mine were broken but I made extras just in case!!

I like your colors!! I would def do tan and then either magenta or navy depending on what colors your other decorations are.  I actually had two different colors of yellow a pastel yellow and a bright yellow and then the tan raffia.

They hold up just fine in the wind- no problems!!

I will get pics tonight to post and then I will count how many strands I cut for each one!

I purchases the raffia at Nashvillewraps.com.  They make you order a minium- hence why I have so much raffia leftover- but they have every color imaginable that is why I ordered from them! :)

You can also buy the starfish at Michael's or Hobby Lobby- but if you plan on making at few of the decorations it is cheaper to just buy them in bulk then to go to Michael's 6 or so different times to use a 40% coupon on each starfish.  Just what I learned from shopping around! :)

Ok ladies- here are my close-ups.  I used 15 strands of raffia and used a folding chair to estimate the desired length.  I had 3 colors so I made 5 strands of each color per decoration.  You can see how I hot glued the cardstock to the back of the starfish for support. Also, the raffia curls much more than this, but again- mine was packed to and from Mexico- so they straighten out a little via travel.   Let me know if you have any other questions! :)

And they really aren't that hard to make- I think two of us made 6 of them in about an hour and a half and we were girl talking the whole time- so you know how that slows things down! :)

You are welcome!!

Yes- adding a color def gives it a nice "pop" that I think the decorations need! Esp if you have bright colors as your wedding colors like I did! :)

My colors are malibu from davids bridal, and hot pink. I bought table runners the same color of as my bridesmaid dresses (the blue malibu) and then did small square vases, and Iwill be filling the vases with pick water beads, and under the water beads will b a pink waterproof t light led. And then one one side of the vase Iwill have a white pencil starfish. We r having a poolside reception, so having my centerpieces glow in the night should b pretty cool. Ill try and take a pic and post!
