am I the only one NOT excited to try on dresses?

Recommended Posts

I don't know what it is with people lately but everyone keeps asking me/my mom/FI if I've tried on dresses. I haven't. I haven't even considered doing it.

I see all these very pretty dresses that you all have, and they are georgous in different ways, but I just don't see me in any of them. I have VERY simple taste. I would wear jeans a t shirt and flip flops every day of my life it that was ok. I do dress up and don't mind it, but I'm just most comfy in my flip flops rolleyes.gif

Anyone else in this boat with me?

Also, part of wearing a wedding dress that doesn't appeal to me is that it obviously attracts more attention to me and I'm so not the girl that likes to be the middle of the attention. Maybe we should have eloped....

I was EXACTLY the same way as you. I mean, exactly. I'm a jeans and flipflops kind of girl all the way. I'm not a dressy girlie girl at all. And on top of that, I'm not really "traditional" and never really wanted a wedding or the dress or anything.

I originally just had a non-traditional formal dress that I had bought for a formal dinner, but when it came in (I had ordered it online) I thought, "Hey, this would make an awesome wedding dress!" I actually still have it and love it and think it would make a cute casual wedding dress.

Anyway, all of a sudden, like 2 months before the wedding I was looking at wedding dresses online randomly and just had this urge to get a more traditional wedding dress. I just started to fall in love with all these dresses. Of course it was a little late to order a dress, but I ended up finding one on Ebay that I loved for $70!! Which was the perfect price since I didn't plan to keep the dress and was going to get it wet.

When I tried it on I was just like "Wow! I look good!!" Even though I'm not normally a dressy girl, it was nice to find a great dress and "pretty" myself up for the wedding.

Me Me, I'm not excited at all, in fact I really don't feel like making a bazillion appointments to try on dresses at all! I'm hoping I feel inspired once we get back from our site visit in a few weeks. It just seems at this point a PITA more than anything else.

I think my big thing is I like to shop solo, I hate it when I get harassed in a store by employees and that is what wedding shopping is all about! I like to pick things out myself and to be left alone not be followed around like puppy dog by some girl. Sorry if thats harsh.

I wasn't excited either Tara. I knew the dresses ran smaller sizes and I didn't want to go and become depressed on a day that was suppose to be exciting.

I finally went and it wasn't so bad. There are so many gorgeous dresses. I actually had fun.

I would just recommend not waiting too long. I did and ordered my dress giving me little room for any freak accidents ...like if it takes longer to be altered or shipped than expected. (I like to be prepared for the worst!)

I still have a hard time picturing myself as a bride. But once you have a dress and veil on, it's a totally awakening experience. It's like "Holy crap! I am getting married."

I loved shopping for dresses, I think once you are actually out there trying them on it gets even more fun.. And if you totally hate it, just for the fun of it try on dresses you HATE and would never see yourself in, that way you get a good laugh or maybe you'll find the dress of your dreams that way.

Oh, I'm going dress shopping alone. Its bad enough I'll have sales people all around me I dont need a gaggle of in-laws, relatives, and friends picking and proding at me too.

Nope I'll just trust my own judgement thank you! lol
