I did alot of research when i chose mine.. and we ended up going with AMA Travel ( you don't have to be an AMA member) they had the best pricing.. and best customer service.. I was originally with Marlin Travel but the lady i was dealing with was brutal.. and she was 400 more expensive per person.. for the exact same trip.. than AMA was.. infact... it was also 400 more expensive.. for a lower star resort to boot..

My advise would be to make some phone calls and send some emails! :) do the research for what suits you best  and when you are emailing and phoning, make sure to ask what incentives the bride and groom get!! that is very important :)

Good Luck!

I need help finding a good travel agent. I do have one that we have used for other vacations. She says that she specializes in honeymoons and destination weddings. However, I don't seem to be getting anywhere and would like to know who other people are using or if they are even using a travel agent? My group in from the Toronto area.

Happy planning!

Yay!!  I can tell you are very excited!  How long did your dress take to come in?  I ordered mine in April and still waiting, not so patiently.

Hi Cassidy,

My word of advice is to find a TA that you like personally and is going to be there when you need them. You will be speaking with that individual so much over the next six months, year, whatever that from my experience (and I manage an agency that only does Destination Weddings) is that over the course of planning your wedding the cheapest suddenly won't be the best if you aren't getting the help you need.

Hope that helps...

Hey ladies,

Just saw this brought up in another thread and thought I would check in to see what everyone is doing.....

Tipping of photographers, videographers etc.??

What are your plans in regards to tipping on the wedding day... I feel like the money keeps adding up and adding up but I also don't want to forget someone if this is the way it is done!

We are bringing our photographer from Ottawa and will probably ask a friend to capture the ceremony in video.

Our photographer will be staying for the week - i'm not sure we're going to be tipping him, wasn't planning on it.  Would love to hear what everyone else is doing? Bartenders, band, wedding coordinator, for sure.

If the WC can make my day run as smoothly as I hope it will...including having the decor look exactly how I picture it in my head...I will be more than happy to tip + give her the biggest hug ever!  I would rather give her cash with a pretty "thank you" card than take along extra trinkets, Canadiana souvenirs, etc.

Our photogs will be staying at the resort the night of the wedding...we thought we would do a modified welcome bag for them as we know they're on the road a lot....but probably don't want a whole bunch of stuff with our names on it!
