We were at Dreams Tulum in January...it was heavenly! : )  I've got loads of pics of the resort if anyone is looking...or has any questions.  I mentioned this in one other post...if you're planning on using the chapel, I would put a request in to the WP that a tequila tasting NOT take place at the same time in the bar adjacent to the courtyard where you and your wedding party will be lining up!

Looking at the reviews and photos, we thought the feel of the resort matched what we wanted the most. Both are close to Golf courses which was a must as my FI is from Scotland and his family is coming for two weeks to make it worthwhile and they love to golf! I hope that helps! Read reviews and go with what both of you is the right fit for you. My dad just went on his honeymoon to Dreams Puerto Aventuras and loved it so I don't think you can go wrong with either resort. Dreams resorts have a good reputation!

Just a note ladies on the lanterns....check with your resort. Some wont install them with lights since its an insurance fire hazard issue. I bought a whole bunch of them and now i cant use them. I had to buy them ones the resort has to set up

Here is a pic:

Lol..thanks for the tip about the tequila tasting! Luckily we are getting married on the beach. But if you have any photos you want to share that would be great! I can't believe it's less then 5 months away! Trying not to think about the cold weather now while it's so nice out!

Holly,

This may sound like a silly question, but when you did your luggage tags on VP, did you just type the words...Name,. Address and inset this on the business card template?

Thanks...I am new to VP...completely

Maybe I should order everything at once, so I only have to pay the shipping once...

ps. today at dollarama I got the CUTEST stone and glass beads.  I had been thinking about making barefoot jewellery for my bridesmaids and I, but thought I had nixed it from the list.  It seemed like really fussy work and I have already bought A LOT of things for my girls.  But.... then I saw the beads and I couldn't resist.  (you know the drill! can't say no!)

Going to take them with me up to MIL's cottage this weekend and maybe my 11 year old neice and her friend can help me with the beading.  Will post pics of how it goes!

I just know that if my mom was standing waiting to go into the church and saw the "toast" that the entertainment guy made with this large phallic-shaped tequila bottle every time we took a shot, she would have died.  That's all I'm sayin'...

But I think you told me already that you were getting married on the beach...next to the Seaside Grill, right?  Our room was amazing...we paid a little extra to upgrade...$30 US per night for the two of us...but it was sooooo worth it.

What type of room did you get? We paid a bit extra for a larger room but didn't choose the ocean view as quite a few reviews said that you could barely see the ocean...We are hoping to get an upgrade when we check in because we're getting married there...it is subject to availability...we'll see if they offer us something better then what we have. When you checked in, did you get asked to sit through a presentation? My dad just went to Dreams Puerto Aventuras, sat through the presentation, but got three free nights that he may use for our wedding...so we may do that and use it next year for our anniversary as we get two free nights for our anniversary since we are having our wedding at a Dreams Resort and staying at least 7 days.

What type of room did you upgrade to? I know we upgraded but can't remember to what...lol...I do know it isn't an Ocean view as a lot of people said they could barely see the ocean...I know it is a larger room. We are hoping to get an upgrade when we check it...they usually do this for couples getting married there. Did you get asked to sit through a 90 min presentation, like a time share thing? My dad just went to Dreams Puertos Aventuras for his honeymoon and they sat through it but got three free nights for any Dreams Resort, so they may use it for our wedding. So we are planning to sit through it if they do that at DT so we can get more free nights toward our first anniversary. We get two free nights for our anniversary if we stay 5 days or longer, because we had our wedding at a Dreams Resort.

So I am in Calgary today and plan on hitting the Pashmina shop, The Christmas store...I think someone said they had starfish there...I got two bags of Sugar starfish garland at Michael's yesterday and the girl have me the 40% off both bags as the coupon on the website was no longer there...the new flyer had been uploaded. Great deal! Paid 20$ for 18 starfish instead of 50$!

I found a great find yesterday at a Great Canadian Dollar store in St.Albert, just outside Edmonton. They have small red and blue starfish...look like gems or confetti...more for gluing on things. But I bought all the red ones and I will use them in my table centerpieces with my shells and sand. But I also plan on using them as decorative confetti on our dinner table for the reception! I think the name of the company that makes them is Twisted 4 crafts, don't have them on me but I will post a photo tomorrow so you can maybe try and find them in a store near you.

The cool thing is the woman at the store told me that I could call the owner of the store and try to order more in! I asked if they had more colors available but she didn't know. But they had red and light blue ones.  Great option instead of ordering real mini colored starfish!

We were in the building right next to the Seaside Grill, third floor facing the gardens with a "peek" of the ocean.  It was beautiful.  Had a separate seating area...we were right next to one of the honeymoon suites.  I think it was a junior suite that we upgraded to.

If you step out on the balcony and look to the right, this was the view...of the pool and further out, the ocean.

The infamous "tequila tasting" with the wedding planner rushing past in the back.  The chapel is just behind him to the left ; )

Oh sorry, forgot to address the presentation thing.  We were certainly offered a "limited time" opportunity to meet with one of their representatives (with some incentives for meeting with them, such as a spa certificate)...and they also offered to (all expenses paid) send us out to one of their "adults only" resorts in the Mayan for a day.  But when you're only there a week, and have lots of excursions you want to do, it wasn't a priority for us.

Just as a side note, we loved the incense they used there, and asked the front desk clerk if we could buy some.  He said he didn't think so but would look into it for us.  Next thing we knew, a bellman was at our door with a whole package of them, compliments of the resort.  They were very good at timely repairs (replacing burnt out lightbulbs, etc).  You'll love it!
