Thanks for the input canadiangirl!

I'm kinda with you on not wanting to miss out on any part of the wedding experience (I mean I only plan on doing it once). The family members that are coming can be a little uptight so I don't want anyone to feel forced to hang around after the dinner if we're playing music when they'd rather go back to their rooms. I feel torn because I want to do the first dance, etc., but know that my fiance as well as others won't really be into it.
Is there a back-up plan if you put on music and people won't dance?

Im treating our wedding as if it were 100 ppl coming, i just dont want any regrets or should haves. I know im not much help but thought id tell you what we were doing. if you want anything let me know and CONGRATS

Thanks Kat!
Are you thinking that one of the bars will let you play your playlist there? Last time I was on vacation the resort had a Beatles cover band for the entertainment, but it was during the slow season so the wedding group that was there had it all to themselves. Such a lucky break.
I just want to do a few slow dances after the dinner and then I don't mind just going to the club/bar at the resort to have the dance party. Do you think just bringing an iPod and speakers would do it to facilitate something like that?
What kinds of songs are people choosing for their first dances?

I opted to go with iPod and build my playlists. I did that because we plan to dance after the dinner, but in one of the bars at the resort. I did not see any need to spend extra money on it. Also as Leigh said you should do what you want, so you won't have regrets later!

Thanks amjohnson!

It's so great to hear what people are planning for their smaller groups. I think that's a fantastic idea and will probably go with having our own personal music during dinner and a few songs afterwards and then let everyone go crazy wherever they'd like. I'll probably end up in the disco where I can freely twirl in my dress :)

We are going to have a first dance and possibly a couple others but I heard from past DT brides that you don't need to book a dance floor for a little

dancing. They charge you 750$ for the dance floor! Hope this helps.

I am sure they will have alright music at the bar, so I am not worried about bringing my own music and make them play it. But I think if you will ask for a few songs, it will be hard to say no :D I am bringing my iPod and iPod docking station just in case, if my resort will decide to charge me for their sound system. My FI picked most of the songs for dinner. We went with old classic rock songs, I threw few of the songs that I like in it too. So my plan is to use my iPod docking and just press play on my playlist and let it play during the dinner. Our first dance song is "Can you feel the love tonight" by Elton John :D

In Saskatoon...p.s., this whole paying thru your e-mail address is totally foreign to me...would I set that up with my bank (TD)?
I would love in on that too!! If you already internet bank you are already set up to do email transfers for eg, if someone purchases from you, they would log into their bank, do an etransfer of funds and send it to your email via a link. You would then click on the link and it will direct you to how to deposit it into the account of your choosing. The person sending the money will also have set up a 'secret question' to which you know the answer. (organize this bw seller and buyer) You will be asked to input the answer to the question and presto! Money in your account. I hope I explained that well..... I would be interested in what you want to sell too. I'm in Toronto..

My FI was very proud of himself because he got a deal on my e-ring (like the use of the newly learned lingo). he went in with cash and bartered them down and even bought the matching wedding band at the same time! he was so excited! he wont tell me how much but he said it was alot!

Hey torilynnsmith,

I have a good experience with Blue Nile. I ordered a stone for my friend like 4-5 years ago from them, when they just were starting. Prices were way better than they are now.

We ordered a stone, it come with the certificate, all specs matched to what they said it should be. Fast, very convenient shipping and service. Also they have great return policy.

Also you should check out novori.com They are same thing and their prices are slightly better. I would recommend ordering from them and getting your rings appraised right away by someone in your town. That way you can make sure you got, what you ordered and your certificate is true. It is extra 50 for appraisal, but I think it is worth it and can put you at ease. So if you get it appraised and it will turn out not what you ordered, just return it within 30 days and you are good to go. :D

Also sometimes you can find better deal at any jewellery store, specially chains cause they are more flexible to give you discounts.

GIRLS, when you buy your rings, BARGAIN. The worst can happen you will get no as an answer (which is very unlikely), the best can happen you will save 15-20% if not more, off your purchase. My wedding band was 899.00 i got 20% off on that. Also compare between stores and tell them that their competitor will give better deal for the same ring :D Most jewellery stores carry pretty much the same merchandise. Such situation motivates them to give discount and make a sale. Also ask for managers, they can give you better deals, if manager is not in the store at the moment, ask sales associate to call manager and ask for a deal!! Don't be shy, it is normal to bargain this business!

I hope it will help someone who will shop for rings or jewellery :D

Well ladies, I took all of your advice and went and shopped around this afternoon and some big chain jewellery stores at the mall to see if I can get a better deal for my wedding band. Believe it or not, I couldn't find a store that actually carried platinum bands! They said they could order any style in platinum, but because of the shape of my rings, they'd have to have it custom made, and there just isn't enough time to do it before my wedding. I figure that by the time they would design it and such, it would probably be just as much as my original band - or more!

So - I think I'm going to scrap the jacket band and get a single band for now, and maybe for our first anniversary I can get the matching band that goes around the other side :)

Thanks for all of your advice!
