Canadian Brides!!!!!!!!!

Ladies...I think we all share a brain or something! haha. I too had many occasions where I was ready to throw in the towel and give up on the whole wedding planning thing! My FI and I both said that if we didn't have people booked for the trip we would seriously consider eloping because of all the issues we've had to deal with. However, I think the whole process has helped bring us even closer together...and I know that if my FI can put up with me during this 'phase' of our relationship we can make it through anything! lol

Seriously though....for every bride on here who is annoyed with their families, frustrated with their planning, exhausted with the never ending changes even when things were planned months in advance, and those second guessing their decision to have a DW...HANG IN THERE!!! I promise there is light at the end of the tunnel!

I have just over a week before we leave and am surprisingly calm...especially since I'm a type-A control freak! I have a zillion things to still get done....but I just keep picturing myself on the beach with my pina colada in one hand and my FI holding the other and can't help but grin from ear to ear! I know that everything won't go perfect, and I'm sure some big fiasco will happen just because it always does, but I also know that less than 2 weeks from now I will be starting the next chapter in my life with my best friend and that's really all that matters!

So if you need a break...take one! And if you are feeling overwhelmed...just check on here b/c by the sounds of it we are ALL going through the same thing! It's nice to know that there are others out there that understand what we are going through! :)

Tori, sorry to hear about your " slump", I don't think you can name one bride who doesn't feel that sooner or later! Really sorry to hear about the photographer??!! I know you were really excited about who you had chosen, hope that can be fixed. I too sometimes feel that I would cancel the DW .. and just do a nice simple wedding near a lake or something peaceful at home.

As for the Majestic changing prices, I haven't written the WC however my wedding is in about a month ... and i'm afraid to find out if there will be extra fees, I hope they are for future brides who haven't booked  yet. I have booked it for over a year, and I would really be devasted to find out I have to pay an extra 600$ for setting up decorations...especially since we are a small wedding of 15 people!

It is for 2012 brides no matter how far in advance you booked so since you have a 2011 date you should be safe! I would email Sandra just to see! Unfortunately even though we are not long after you we fall into the 2012 category... I think we are going to recruit people to assist with set up so that we can save the $650 lol

Ughhh...TLS, that sucks!  We've had nothing major like that, but I'm holding my breath (and holding off on doing welcome bags) until after the Dec 1st deadline for final payments.  I don't think we'll have anyone drop out...but my brother has yet to even express an interest or desire to come (money is NOT the issue...apparently his boys' hockey games are)...and when I do talk to him the subject doesn't even come up...so I have no idea where we're at with them.

It's just the ever growing list of things/people I'm kinda disappointed in...and like how I just had to spend another $100 on pashminas for the ladies 'cause I must have been having a small stroke the last time I was ordering.  I ordered  2 - 3 of a whole bunch of colours without sticking to our reception colours which was crazy.  I'll have to sell the others on Kijiji now.  And I continue to go back and forth on whether or not to carry ALL of the welcome bag stuff with us to the resort or hand them out at our Christmas open house for all of those coming with us. I think honestly that is the most stressful decision I've had to make I have yet to make in this whole process!!!

Oh, and I still have 20 pounds to lose in 98 days...no stress there or anything!!!!

But, we're healthy, happy, very much in love and so excited to be getting married...and that's what we need to focus on, right?!? ; )

Oh dear!!!! I have given up the weight loss dream and am just going to do "as much as I can" in 100 days!

As for your pashminas what colours do you have and how many of each?  Post your inventory list on here, I may be interested in taking a few off your hands!!!! Where did you get them?  My mom is in New York next week and I am tempted to her her to pick some up but I don't know.....

Thanks, Tori,

I feel amazing, and everyone has noticed the difference. I forgot to mention there is a support thread on BDW for people doing insanity. Be sure to check it out!

Tori -

I just had to pipe up because I see so many brides go through the same emotional rollercoaster!

I don't have solutions to all your problems but I can offer advice based on things I've learned through planning my own DW and many more since.

Planning a DW is stressful. It was stressful planning my own, it's stressful planning them for other people too. Families complicated things quickly and things that normally wouldn't upset you do because everyone involved is very close to you or your fiance. I've never met a bride that didn't have stress at some point planning her wedding. Some brides handle it better and some have more support.

Expect some of your guests not to attend, even important ones as upseting as that is.. Get upset, then get over it (there's usually family drama involved so this may be hard) and focus on the people who can attend. You can save a lot of tears by announcing your wedding party after they've RSVP'd!

Don't be afraid to ask people for help. You'll be surprised where you find it. And try not to sweat the small stuff. With a destination wedding you have to let a few things go. I've seen lots of brides so upset over details they didn't even notice on their wedding day because they were just so happy, blind with love and having so much fun. I feel DW's can be less stressful then traditional weddings, but especially on the wedding day. The guys are golfing or swimming, the ladies in the spa sipping mamosas, there just isn't much to get upset about because the work is done. You've been celebrating with your guests for a few days already! You can just have fun with the people you love.

Stay strong girl!!!

OMG...I had to smile when I read the part about "get upset, then get over it"!  When I first got word early on (from my Mom via e-mail) that my brother wasn't really on board, I got sooooo upset, I put myself into a "time out" for the weekend (i.e., didn't talk to any family as I was worried I would say something I would really regret later on).  My FI was so great...but I was sad/disappointed/crushed...and I told him "I just need to be MAD right now...but I'll get over it!"

And honestly, if there is one thing I think we've done right, it's NOT have any adults in our bridal party...'cause if I had to deal with all of that drama as well, I'd go nutty!  We need to have 4 witnesses sign with us, and we'll figure out soon who we'll ask.  But they'll just pop out of their chairs when the time comes during the ceremony, and that's it.  My BFF (also my FI's cousin) has kinda declared herself the assistant to the WC and will help out with whatever we need her to.

Thanks for the advice and encouragement!
