Bonfire for a Reception

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I am the January 2012 bride... trying to get things together. I finally got a dress! :)

So I am trying to figure out a good reception.  We are planning on 50-75 guests and my future MIL thought a bonfire would be a lot of fun ( i agree) but I havent seen anyone else talk about this.

Has anyone here done a bonfire through dreams and would you reccommend it?

Also did anyone else bring their own decorations?

I'm logging in for the first time in ages and sincerely apologize for the late response.  We did end up doing the bonfire the night before our wedding - it was so much fun!!! My husband and I made a playlist before we went and had our ipod out that night.  The food was amazing and the staff was incredible - not to mention the resort is gorgeous so the setting was perfect.  We originally planned to do a Mexican buffet..Since our wedding fell close to Thanksgiving our wedding coordinator, Magda, added a bunch of Thanksgiving items to the buffet which was a great surprise and we welcomed addition! (plus after eating a bunch of Mexican food the week leading up to our wedding we were ready for a change)  I posted a review of our wedding under Dreams Los Cabos where you can see a few snapshots from the night.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks foe coming back to give us an update! Are the Dreams resorts the only ones that offer a bonfire?

I'm also potentially planning for a bonfire after the dancing reception.  The venue won't allow music after 10:30 and I didn't want the party to end so soon, so we are going to do a beach bonfire, chinese lanterns and mini burritos, along with still serving drinks

Karisma resorts also do this- but it's a s'mores party. (Bonfire with s'mores and chocolate fondu on the beach)

Hi All -

For those of you thinking of doing a bonfire at Dreams, DO IT! We had sooooo much fun at ours and it really helped people get to know one another before the wedding. We got married on Saturday, May 31st and had the bonfire party on Thursday night right after our rehearsal. we did not get the food option because we just had everyone eat right after the rehearsal on their own. There was a taco bar at El patio restaurant right near the Gazebo where we held our rehearsal so it was perfect. We did get the bar service because it would have been too far to walk to a bar, so I highly recommend doing this. It was expensive and we were hesitant on doing it but we are so glad we did. We also had the photos and video from our package so we decided to use that service for the bonfire (we hired Alec and T for our wedding). We also bought sparklers for our bridal party and took an awesome picture!

I was trying to upload pics but I have tried and tried and I keep getting an error message
