Honestly it really is your day ...just stay your course and it will turn out the way you want! as far as our wedding goes, we are doing a reception after the wedding only because I WANT ONE LOL not because its required, i think if you all went to the resort restaurant that would be just as great. Really its all about you your FI and your fam and friends all being together.

we too are doing the AHR only because i have some fam as does my FI that just cant come...and i really wanted to have some sort of wedding pics with them lol even if its not in Jamaica

were not having alot of ppl coming either we only sent out 30 invites, same as you only those who could behave lol

what area are you looking at for your wedding? do you have a destination you love? we chose Jamaica only because we loved the resort and the extras the FI and I could do during our weddingmoon

Congrats, our date is 12/12/12 and we also thought about an AHR on NYE but then decided against it. Especially for the time of year and we tend to get a lot of snow..We are not having an extravagant reception at the resort either only a reserved dinner for all guests, we as well are only having about 20 people with a mixture of family and friends...It's your wedding and you have to do what makes you more comfortable.

I think you should do whatever you feel comfortable with.  I do think it is important to consider that most of your guests will be spending a lot of money to be there with you for the ceremony and to celebrate your marriage.  Since most ceremonies are relatively short, I think it is important to have some sort of dinner or celebration with your guests so that they feel they really were able to share this moment with you.  Most all inclusive resorts have some sort of package that includes dinner and cake and cocktails :)
