female "groomsman"

Recommended Posts

Has anybody had a female groomsperson in their party? If so, did you make any kind of adjustments for this (ex: walking people down the aisle, pictures). We're considering it, and I just didn't know if there was anything I needed to be mindful of. Did she wear the same dress as the bridesmaids? Thanks!

My cousin had a best women at his wedding but mind you it was a very relaxed hippy type wedding.  She wore black pants and a dress top to match the guys but in a more feminine way.  I can't exactly remember how they walked down the aisle but I'm pretty sure it was another girl and then for pics she just stood up there beside the groom the same as a best man would do.  I think its great if a couple is comfortable enough to do this since you really do want your best friends standing beside you man or woman.

Thanks, that article is very helpful, I think we're gonna have her wear something linen so she fits in more with the groomsmen instead of wearing the dress the bridesmaids are wearing. One more question though, what do you do about flowers for the female groomsperson (boquet, corsage, boutonniere)?

My FI's sister is a going to be a groomsmaid.  She will wear the same color dress as the BMs.  I told all the girls, to pick out their own style though.  She will stand up front with the other groomsmen as only the BMs and myself are walking down the aisle.

That is what made the most sense to me anyways!

I have seen all kinds of things . I have seen females wear a tux. As long as you are cool with it let her do what feels comfortable for her.

although i do not have this exact issue, i do have my best friend as my MAN OF HONOR instead of a maid of honor.....what im doing with him in regards to attire is he will be wearing the same pants as the guys...but he will be wearing a different color shirt, to match the girls dresses. this way he looks like my side and not FI side
