Sky Lanterns!

is everybody getting one per guest? it seems like you need 2 people to light one so maybe i will get 1 for every two guests. any suggestions?

I got one lantern for every two guests. They are quite large and until the hot air starts rising inside you need someone to hold it up so it doesn't fall over on itself and catch fire. I just got mine in the mail the other day, I ordered 18 of them (a couple extras just in case) and they will take quite a bit of room in the luggage so I can't imagine bringing down 30 or so.

Same! I have one for every two people. I'd read before that they are tricky to light and a two-person job.

We asked our venue if they were allowed, thinking we would buy them and bring them down, but they offered them for less than $14/each, which I feel is the better way to go. I'm already worried about how much luggage we're going to have, so I'm happy to pack one less thing. They told us we need 3 people per lantern, and they do look pretty big. They sent photos, although we're going to have solid colors instead of the multi.

I just ordered these today for the Iberostar rose hall beach. Apparently I can use them but now after reading this, I'm worried about transporting them on the plane. Have others packed these in their checked bags? The website says fuel cell. Thanks!

My husband & I just got married in the DR in November, and we had 155 guests attend, so we had 90 of these to transport.  We got the biodegradable ones, and had absolutely no issue with having them in our checked luggage.  Here are some pictures! Totally worth it, it was one of our favorite things - we did this on the rehearsal dinner night - had dinner, showed a slideshow on the beach, did the lanterns, & bonfire afterwards - everyone loved it!!
