Gunde: You can do a private reception in the ballroom, garden or terrace. Or if you don't want to do the private reception, you can always have dinner in one of the restaurants and then I hear that they have a disco that some people go to. I will be doing the private reception and hiring a dj (but bringing music just in case).

Yes. In fact, you have to hire their DJ (which can get expensive). I'll attach the DJ information that they sent me. Another alternative is to bring your iPod and speaker connections and do your own music.

smile78.gif Thanks for the document! I'm going to be booking an Oct 27th wedding this week. Can you tell me more about your private reception?? Is that what they are talking about in the "optional service" section where you can do the private dinner with drinks for ~50$/person?? We don't care about the private dinner as much as a dance floor with a DJ. My FI wants to shake his ass all night! If you hire their DJ do does that come with use of a dance floor?? I think we are going to try for a site visit in early March. The info you have provided me with has been really helpful, thankyou.smile159.gif I'm interested to hear about the rest of you experience. Which wedding package are you choosinghuh.gif

oh my gosh gunde i had the EXACT same questions. i've been looking for this info on mp for like two weeks and just happened to come across it tonight.(trying to decide between mp and el dorado royale) but whats really important to us is the recep0tion. dont care as much about the ceremony - all thats important is that we can see the ocean and exchange vows but cant wait for the parTAY! we just want it to be fun for our guests. andresolve that dj document was really helpful - you said you have to book their DJ - does that mean you cant just bring and play your own music? if you can bring your own to the MP, does anyone know how much it costs at MP to just rent the stereo system if we bring our own cd's and mp3 player? and can we rent a dance floor and stereo system if we dont have a private reception - if we just do like a cocktail hour and then dinner at the regular restaurant? i know at the el dorado you cant rent the dj/dance floor unless you also book the private reception, but i cant find anything about the moon palace. yikes, im rambling.

btw, i hate to jack this thread, but gunde is your FI last name by any chance foreman? he looks EXACTLY like someone that was a year ahead of me in med school with who i think went to kc for residency...he was really good friends with my roommate...

Not sure if this helps, I didn't get married at MP, but I spent my honeymoon there. We saw several weddings while we were there and I even took pics of some. . .but only from the balcony of my room! I promise I didn't stalk any brides or anything!! But I've got pics of the wedding gazebo and even the cocktail reception they set up for the wedding right next to the gazebo. It looked really nice and the guests seemed to enjoy it.

Anyway, if any of you want the few pics I have or have any questions about MP in general, feel free to ask!

btw, the spa at the golf course is GREAT! The hotel salon/spa is nice too but if you're looking for that ultra posh spa experience....definitely go to the spa at the golf course! Amazing.

Otherwise, the whole resort is great. We loved every minute we were there. The service was wonderful - everyone on the staff is SO accomodating! It was just a great experience overall!

thanks for the info guys. we're now thinking about maybe just bringin our own speakers - i've read on a couple other threads that others are doing it but haven't heard of anyone who has actually done it. i guess we'll have to go check out some speakers - good investment for future parties at home though if they work!! redwards i'd love to see the pics you have of the cocktail party and the gazebo - thats actually our main concern - the reception, and i just want to make sure its gonna be the right atmosphere!smile03.gif

No Problem! Of course they're on my computer at home (go figure), but I'll make sure to post them or a link to an album or something tonight!

I think the pics I have are of just the cocktail hour part of the reception...because I'm pretty sure we saw that same wedding party having dinner on one of the patio areas later that evening. Either way, it looks pretty!
