Hire an outside photographer! The resort photographers we used for our welcome reception were terrible. We used Juan Navarro for our wedding and are thrilled with how the photos turned out.

Hi Brides! My partner and I really want fairy lights for the Beach Terrace. Has anyone paid the $1000 and offer any commentary on whether it was worth it? If you have a seating chart or floor plan of the space that would also be helpful. There is not much information on the Beach Terrace out there. Thanks!

I just do not want guests to be bored outside of the wedding night. Thank you for any help that you may have!

Hello brides! For some reason I decided to look at reviews of the resort today to find out some tips for our guests to put in welcome letter/brochure and I wish I didn't...a lot of people are complaining you get pushed into listening to a sales presentation/time share pitch upon checking in at the resort. Did any of your guests have this happen? I'm thinking I should warn our guests but don't want to scare anyone!
 

Also how did you find the drinks at the resort? Are they served in small plastic cups at the pool bar? Still deciding on whether to include mugs or stadium cups in our welcome bags. Thank you in advance!

I feel like every resort you go to now there is some pressure to attend their sales pitch.  It's such big business in the Riviera Maya all resorts are getting in on it.  Just remind your guests to give a firm "no" when they check in, and they should be left alone.  It's mostly established couples that they target (ones with money), so single guests will likely not be bothered.   They try and get you in by offering a free massage, or other 'amazing' offers.  Ignore them!

Sales pitch - we warned all of our guests about the sales pitch. Some still got confused and went and were annoyed. The rest were on top of saying no.

 

2nd thing... just got our slide show from our professional photographer. It coincidentally came the day after we received the video of the wedding from the videographer. On the video - OMG - I never thought I would want that, but since it came with the package we did it. I am SO GLAD we did. Honestly, its hard to remember your wedding - there is so much going on and so much adrenaline. The video gave me a way to see it from my guests perspective and also to experience it a bit myself as if for the first time. Totally do it!!!

The main pool is pretty lively. They play club music most afternoons and people are dancing both in and out of water. Swim up bar is packed. I imagine it matters how many people are at the resort but it was a great party scene when we were there. Those who wanted to chill out went to the preferred club pool. As an aside, the pools are gorgeous - and huge.

I only booked/paid for one "excursion" - we rented 5 buses to take people into Cancun to go partying at a club one night (Thursday night). That was a hit. Otherwise, I sent out some info to guests in advance advising they wait to book until there (I heard its cheaper). Then we offered to organize (but not pay for) one other excursion to swim with the whale sharks. About 30 people ended up doing that - athough only 10 on the day we went and the rest organized amongst themselves. Many people went to Tulum and to the cenotes and we heard nothing but great things.
