Would you get married at a resort that did not allow you to chose your own vendors?

I personally wouldn't choose a resort for the simple fact if they allowed outside vendors or not. Destination weddings to me, mean a get away type of wedding. If people want every single detail their way, stay home then and choose.

I would...however, it isn't fair if she already contracted with outside vendors.  I think as long as you know up front, it is fine.  Just another factor in choosing a location.

No way, they over charge and does not provide the quality I am looking for, such as photography.

I want to be able to personalize my wedding, so being able to bring vendors of my choice is very important!

You need to check with the resort because sometimes there are ways tio get around this policy. I'm getting married at The Hard Rock in Punta Cana and my contract has a clause stating that no outside members are permitted. However, if the photographer, dj, etc... is attending as one of my guests and is staying in a room at the hotel, then the hotel allows it.

I'm planning to get married at Moon Palace, we are planning to use and outside vendor and pay for a day pass for them which is $91.00 a small price to great pictures

No way! Although very likely I'll use their vendors if prices and services are good, I need the control in my hands.

I am a photographer who held a contract to shoot weddings at a popular Caribbean Resort.  A few years ago that resort took over photography & banned outside vendors such as me. 

I have always stated that I disagree with this policy as it robs a bride of her right of choice on what is arguably "One of the most important days of her life."

I have asked the question if legally this does not constitute restraint on trade.  It brings to mind the incident where Microsoft bundled Internet explorer with its computers...resulting in an anti-trust case against it which I believe, found Microsoft guilty.

Trouble is the same stringent rules do not apply in the places where destination weddings occur and this has been leaving many brides with a bad taste in their mouth, as evidenced by the comments here.

However there are a number of creative ways around this challenge and I'm blown away by how brides have embraced these in an enjoyably conspiratorial way! ;)

We are very careful to get to know our brides and grooms before suggesting hotels for this reason! Brides who want a very unique, customized wedding should not be booking at properties that have very strict vendor policies. Be sure to review vendor policies before booking your resort!

That's so unfair! I hope she can get them to honor the original contract! I definitely would NOT go with a resort that didn't let me at least have the option of my own vendors. I just couldn't stand not having any control over it!
