Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya May 2012

Recommended Posts

Hello Brides!

I am starting to plan my destination wedding for May 2012 near Playa del Carmen. I am very excited but am quickly getting overwhelmed and frustrated. I would like to have a beach ceremony and reception and have narrowed it down to 3 resorts. It will about 50 guests. However I was just informed by the WC at one of the resorts (even though I started emailing back in Feb mentioning a beach reception) that late April-November they cannot have beach receptions because it is turtle season. The loud music and lights disturbs them. I was wondering if any other brides are having the same issue, is this just this resort or the entire Riviera Maya? Someone please help give me guidance on how to plan this wedding ... I am already stressed out :) Thanks!

Hi,

Choose the good resort with the ceremony and reception you expect is very important. I have covered so many wedding in plenty of different venue in the Riviera Maya. On my Blog, wedding slideshows are sorted by location and venue in the Riviera Maya. Take a look at my blog to look for what you are expecting:  Pierre Visual Studio  - Blog

Enjoy it!

Congratulations and welcome to the forums! Having been down here for the past couple years I have not personally ran into any brides that were not allowed a beach ceremony and reception because of the turtles. I do know that some beach areas have been closed down and roped off because of the turtles... this is a very small part of the beach.

I live in Playa del Carmen and have worked many weddings on the beaches of Playa through the years and Im very surprised that you are having this issue here? What resort are you looking at booking your wedding? Is it right in PDC because these are public beaches here and I have yet to see them closed for turtles in town.

Hope this helps... best of luck with all your planning and feel free to email me if you have any questions!
