Dress Shop in DC/MD?

Recommended Posts

So I grew up in Maryland, but have lived in Chicago for almost 10 years. My two bridesmaids are still in Maryland, and they want me to come visit them to go dress shopping - it's easier for my mom and I to get there than it is for them to come here.

But I have no idea of dress shops out there! Does anyone from Maryland or DC have suggestions? We'll be staying in the Rockville area, but we'll be willing to travel as far as Annapolis or Baltimore.

Also, I know of a plus-size bridal shop in the Chicago burbs, is there anything like that in MD/DC?

Thanks for any suggestions! I'm so clueless about where to start looking or making appointments! confused.gif

I would search on google, see what you can find and then call the stores and let them know that you are planning on coming and ask what they offer, for example specific designers, price ranges, selection, plus sized dresses, ect.  Then you can narrow down your search to just a few stores rather then feel overwhelemed with too many.

Thanks! I do feel a bit overwhelmed lol if I were shopping in Chicago, I'd know exactly where to go, where to avoid, etc. But its been so long since I lived in Maryland, I'm clueless! Time to make some calls! At least I have some time before I head out there. If any DC/MD girls know any places I should avoid, please let me know! Much appreciated!

I purchased my dress from Lily's Bridal. They have an amazing selection of dresses and their service was AMAZING. I shopped at several other shops before I found my dress at Lily's Bridal. I did not have a pleasant experience at one shop in Annapolis. Not fun at all, almost brought me to tears. Went to a store in Columbia and the store wasn't very clean. Didn't feel comfortable spending money in there. I avoided David's and Alfred Angelo because I didn't want to buy from a chain store. I wanted to buy from a local business. I didn't go to any shops downtown because of the parking downtown.

Lily's Bridal was clean and a very organized store. That speaks volumes to me. I felt safe and secure there. I worked with Kristie and had such a fun time finding my dress. She listened to me and helped me find my dress. The dress I purchased was from a line called Carrafina. Love it! Oh and they have an amazing selection of jewelry and veils. I love to accessorize.

I suggest Lily's Bridal, here is their information. www.lilysbridal.net

i know of a BEAUTIFUL plus size shop in columbia, MD..its called curvaceous couture..they have a FB page and the shop is lovely...i'm from the DMV but now live in TX..girl, i flew up there just so i could visit the shop and try on designer gowns..

i'm a street size 14/16 but a plus size in bridal so most of the designer gowns i wanted to try on just weren't available down here..they have pronovias, reem acra and more...try it out or send your bridesmaids..its a family owned operation committed to the utmost in quality from the dresses to the customer service...you won't be disappointed!!!  R~

ps...after all, not EVERYONE was meant to be a size 2...good luck and happy planning!!!  cheesy.gif
