I think we'll plan a shorter trip. I don't think all of our guests could last the whole day.

Do you recommend eating lunch somewhere near Coba? Or should we go to Tulum or Akumal? I'm just trying to figure out what all we have time for. I don't want to go to lunch much later than 11:30. Grandma eats early.

Thanks for the tips. My grandma's top thing on her list was to see the jungle. I'm excited to find a way to show her the jungle & still plan a trip that everyone else will enjoy.
Yep, 160 was the total cost for us, all day strong though. This is a super deal!

Unfortunately at Tulum, there isnt the bicycle option. Coba is BIG BIG BIG and FLAT FLAT FLAT and surrounded by jungle. Its rather amazing! Plus, the 20 or so peso bike rental (single bikes) for all my friends was so much fun, highly recommended too.

For eating, it just depends on when you leave... It looks like you will be in Coba before noon and if you do that tour, you will likely be hungry just after. I'm not too impressed with the local food joints around there... Your next option is bring something to sustain grandma and snacks. We had sandwiches, apples, chips, water, sodas etc. We ended up driving our car and had the back packed with the cooler. This way we could snack just after coba and before the cenote and still get our full day in on our tour closing at the beach.

Key thing is that its 45 min from the closest restaurants (taco joint on the corner of highway and road to coba) in tulum to the coba ruins.

think in terms of 1 hr drive, 1.5 hrs at ruins, 45 min drive to closest tulum restaurant. that is big window of time for no grub... sandwiches worked for us.

good luck!

I figured we'd have to drive a while to get food. We'll probably do the same thing then- pack food. I definitly don't want hungry guests at the cenote.

Hmm, when I was there in 2006 (September), we found a great little taco joint--nothing fancy, just good food and cold beer--right where the road to Coba has a turn off for the nearby Club Med Villas Arquelogicas.

If you decide not to bring snacks, or don't bring enough wink.gif, the restaurant is right outside the hotel's walls.

I was planning on organizing and possibly treating our guests to an afternoon group tour leaving my resort (Grand Riviera Maya Princess / Grand Sunset Princess) to Hidden Worlds for snorkeling of cenotes, and from there to Tulum to visit the ruins, and then back. I'm guessing approximately 1/4 of my wedding guests will come (guessing 30 out of my guess of 120 guests).

I got quoted $30pp for snorkeling cenotes at Hidden Worlds and $400 for a bus for the whole trip (that will fit 30 people rather than splitting people up in 3 vans, which would cost $380), so it works out to about $43 pp (not including entrance to Tulum).

For you all who have organized similar trips or have researched, does that sound right? And is Hidden Worlds worth it or is there a cheaper option that would be equally as good?

Our wedding is on Friday so most people will fly in Thursday and leave Sunday. We're expecting 40 guests.

Thursday night: welcome dinner

Friday: wedding itself

Saturday: We have two tours going on and we're paying for them. I'll take one group to Tulum and my FI will take another group to deep sea fishing. We've made it clear that it's optional. Some of my friends want to stay at the hotel and chill.

Thursday night we hosted a welcome get together at the hotel lobby. We paid for margaritas for everyone.

On Friday night we rented out the Cancun Queen dinner boat and enjoyed a sunset cruise for 70 people. It was fantastic and I highly recommend it. There was dancing on the top level and dinner on the bottom level. We didn't know what to expect but it definitely exceeded our expectations. All of our guests still talk about what a fabulous time they had. More information can be found here Aquaworld Cancun's Sightseeing & Attractions , Cancun, Cancun Diving, Diving in Cancun, Cancun Tours, Cancun Fishing,Swim with Dolphins Cancun, Cancun Jungle tour, Cancun Snorkeling,

Thanks for the info. I used Aquaworld once before when my fiance and I went on the Jungle Tour. (He had a lot of fun driving the boat.) Maybe we could do the Isla Mujeres Day trip for our guests. The dinner cruise sounds awesome too. I guess it will depend on how much we can afford to cover for everyone.
